I like to watch the live blogging from Endgadget - who else will be watching? Do you have an iPad already? What features would make you upgrade?

Obviously I'll wait and see but I don't do much Skyping so the camera feature might not be the must-have new feature for me. What are your thoughts?

I'm excited about watching as well. I usually watch the IGN live feed for these announcements. I don't have an iPad yet. I'm still trying to see what will be changing and what the prices will be, and then I'll decide whether to get the new one or the original. I don't really care about the camera, and it doesn't really matter if it's thinner (which it's rumored to be) but I'm still hoping for some other interesting improvements.

Don't really care, as with pretty much everything they release, it will be overhyped and over followed. Do I think they make some decent products, yes, but they are not the be all, end all and there are often some much better options on the market. However, they are great at marketing themself with much fan fare and are able to woo the masses.

Some great new features! Front and rear facing cameras, faster OS, thinner, snazzy new magnetic fold-back cover...looks enticing. Same pricing structure as the old iPad, same capacity. 16, 32, 64 with and without 3G.

Still no flash or multitasking. A shame. They pretty much just released a 2 month old phone with a larger display, with less capabilities.

The big problem is they're using basically the same OS...from what I've seen of the Android Honeycomb OS, it's light years ahead of Apple's

Actually, it does do multitasking and if you want Flash, you can download a 3rd party browser that supports it.

I regret that my current iPad is out of date and I especially lust after the new A5 dual core chip in the iPad 2 (as well as the Face Time camera!) but I must confess that my current iPad is still cool enough for me ;)

I love these features! I have an ipad but I'll be getting this new one and selling my other one. :cool1:

Why should you have to get a different browser when Apple is suppose to be so superior and offers this great superior web browser? It really is a big shortcoming of the iPad. Also, the "browsers" really don't support flash, they use a buffer technique where the flash is encoded in the cloud and then reformatted on the fly, this works great most of the time, but there are many sites that it just doesn't work well.

Multitasking isn't true multitasking in an iPad or iPhone, close, but not true.

USB is probably the biggest killer for me (why I don't own one, but my partner does). Their proprietary connector serves no purpose but Apple's.

Meh. The supposed multitasking works perfectly for me and I find no hardship in downloading another browser to view Flash. Not that I ever bump into Flash any more.

My main gripe is that iBooks do not yet carry Robert Harris novels. Actually, I haven't checked for a while, but at least up until recently they were missing from the list.

USB would be nice, but again it's never troubled me.

Now, if only they sported a larger SSD capacity...

What "browsers" do this? I wasn't aware that was something they were doing, even if it doesn't work all the time, I'd be interested to see them.

Did a lot of research on the I pad and the rumors of the specs of the ipad2. Went out and got a motorola xoom instead. I watched the live blog of the announcement today, too. Lets just say I have no regrets getting the xoom....its amazing!

It seems I've become an Apple fan over the last couple years, with a lap top, phone, and an ipad. Not sure how this happened, maybe reliving my youth as I used an Apple 2E in grad school. The teachers loved it! My typed homework was easy to read.

Was just reading about the new pad.

Apple's Steve Jobs Takes Stage to Unveil iPad 2

I like the updates. The cameras would be a neat feature to have. But for the price of around $800, think I'll hold on to what I currently own, and upgrade when another evolution comes around.

Now if you take what was said at the event to be true:

IOS Apps: 65,000
Android 3.0 Honeycomb Apps:............... 100

Another thing going for Apple products like the ipad, ipods and phones...accessories

Now what I find interesting, is the amount of people getting it cause its now in white.

Personally it's a bit misleading as most of those 65,000 Ipad apps aren't for the Ipad 2 but the Ipad 1, whereas he's comparing to the Honeycomb apps which JUST came out and it's still compatible with all of the previous Android apps

He never said that they were for the Ipad 2 alone. He just said the amount of apps that are available for Ipad Users are 65,000.

Frankly I really dont get the hatred thrown at Apple or people that like apple products.

SkyFire is one in particular. It translates the Flash remotely and then pushes it down in a compatible format. Works well for video, not as much for interactive flash (ie. shopping).

Which adds confusion to the slide as he had not problem including both iPad and iPad 2 apps (one in the same), but only counted Honeycomb apps, and not the huge Android market. The funny thing about the Android market is that Android apps are more flexible to run on different hardware because the developers already have to develop across multiple hardware platforms. Apple developers typically (unless they cross OS develop) work with one hardware style (the differences between iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4, etc. are nothing compared to Droid X and say HTC Incredible).

It's not so much hatred, just the lack of understanding about the overly hyped products. They have a great marketing machine, but their products are really not that great. There are better products but Apple (at least for now) has become this cult.

.. much like Disney.
All the people that flock to Florida to freely hand over thousands of dollars to a large corporation that is already making money hands over fists. When I was thinking of going to Disney in January I looked at what tickets to the park would cost. That pretty much canceled that trip. I could go to the Caribbean for that kind of money. Or how about staying on site at Disney so you can have the "magic" of eating overpriced food or riding crowded buses, where as renting a house will get you so much better value and you get your own pool?
Yes Disney markets their "magic" just as well as Apple. ;)

Oh trust me, I'm pretty critical of Disney as much as Apple, and I have seen a decline in their service/offerings. But yes Disney is cut from the same hyped product cloth as Apple.
