iOS vs Android

Which do you prefer? Why?

We've had Androids forever, until we got our iPad. The iOS never seems to crash. Ever. Our phones (android) crash constantly. My husband (who's a techno geek) says that with Android, they're building tools to make different apps work and comply with each other. Where with iOS, they're build to work together. There's no "bridging".

I cannot wait to get rid of my Samsung Galaxy and switch to the iPhone. It really makes a huge difference in speed and reliability. Now, that's just my opinion.

I agree with sydneysmom, I have an iPod and iPad and love it. I loved my EVO 4G when I got it, now I hate it, compared to the Apple products. I can't wait until Feb when I can upgrade to the iPhone. DH upgraded to the iPhone 4S on Saturday and he is already a much happier person. I had stayed away because of the price, but yo get what you pay for.

See, now I love my GS III. I have had no problems with it at all, where my husband has had multiple problems with his Iphone. He started with an android, but was given the Iphone through work. Since they foot the bill he's stuck with it, but would love to go back to the android platform. My sister went from an android to an Iphone, and wouldn't go back.

I guess it is really a personal preference.

With fair warning that I'm almost certainly biased (because of my employment), I strongly prefer Android over iOS. Though iOS is in some cases more stable and easier to use, it's also less flexible in terms of interactivity between different apps. I also disagree with Apple's walled-garden.

I've had both, and much prefer the stability of iOS, although it isn't nearly as customizable.

I have an iPhone and love it. But I really hate that it is not adobe flash compatible. There are so many things I cannot see on my phone and it bugs me. I just wanted to point out one con with iOS.

Purchasing an iPhone slowly converted me to an Apple Fan. We now have iPhones, iPads, iPods and Macs. I love how seamlessly everything works together. If the "Walled Garden" keeps out the garbage, I'm for it. I've also got an Android tablet, a Nook Tablet and an HP Touchpad but I almost always reach for the iPad.

I have an Andriod (Droid Bionic) and my mom has the iPhone 4. I personally prefer my Droid, but she loves her iPhone, so I guess it is just personal preference. I have used her phone and other peoples Apple phones, and I just don't like them. I also prefer PCs over Macs. One of my problems with the iPhone is that I don't like the way it looks, but that's also a reason I don't like Androids: all the phones are different sizes, so it's hard to find cases! Also, I liked my phone better before the upgrade, but what can you do?

OP,

I started with Apple products about 3 years ago now and have never looked back. We now have 3 iphones, an ipad, a MacBookPro, an iMac, and an ipod touch.

It is much more intuitive to me.

I thought I would never own an iPhone because of the cost. DH and I upgraded last May and we are so glad we did! I absolutely love my iPhone. We also have 2 iPads, an iPod touch, a nano and a mac book pro. I am a happy convert.

I have an iPhone 4 and my daughter has an HTC One X. While I love the customization possibilities of her phone, I am going to get the iPhone 5 when my upgrade is due because I just love its ease of use and its uptime is amazing. I have never has a system crash and it has only even locked up on me a couple times in the 2 years I have had it.

I'm IOS all the way, but my husband is an Android lover, but decided to finally switch to the Iphone 5 as it would work with his ipad I got him in July. He's actually switched back to the Android several weeks after activing his iphone and I am now the proud user of the iphone 5 . Now I think I don't know any better with my iphone so I'm very happy whereas he's much more tech savy and he says that there is just things that the Android does that the Iphone does not. He likes the turn by turn directions better on the Droid - he loves the way his screen resizes the font, and there are other issues, but those are the two that I constantly hear him talking about.

For phones, its close. I don't really have too much experience with either though.

For tablets, no competition at the minute, its iOS. I looked at tablets on display in stores and had a little play around in the apps and menus etc, I picked up iOS almost immediately and instinctively, I liked the smooth transitions and ease of use. Android had more options, but I just couldn't get into it, and for pick up and play media devices, they just aren't as smooth or simple IMO. Maybe when they iron out some of the conflicting apps and smooth the experience a bit more ill look into it again.

For what it's worth I do know a bit about tech and devices, but I still like iOS for simple media consumption. If I did more complex things, maybe android might appeal to me more.

What is a walled garden?

With Apple, you are stuck as you would be in a garden surrounded by a wall.

My take on it is, if I find that I need more memory, whoops, that's a couple hundred more $$$. If my battery dies, whoops, can't replace that either.

I also don't like the cost associated with it (or the big Androids for that matter.) I spend a maximum of $30/month for 3 Android phones, not the $210/month I think it was to have 3 iPhones. I spend less per year than I would in 2 months with iPhones.
