Hi to all I am leaving for my trip with me and my children on Aug. 25, we will be staying at the Royal Pacfic resort. I was wondering if anyone had any experience with some of the rides that say may not fit due to body size and shape? Does this mean that if you are overweight you may not fit on rides?? If anyone has any info or experience could you let me know as I fall into this catogory and am a little concerned. Thanks..

The problem you mention applies mostly to Islands of Adventure. here's how I describe it:

"Another problem may be encountered by taller and heavier guests. The roller coasters and Doctor Doom’s Fear Fall employ state of the art harness-like contraptions to make sure that you don’t go flying off into space. Unfortunately, not everyone fits into them.

"Anyone with a chest measurement over 50 inches may have difficulty fitting into the harness and at 54 inches you can pretty much forget about it. Height is less of a problem (I am told basketball players have ridden) but some extremely tall individuals may also be out of luck. The rides in question provide a sample seat outside so you can check to see if you’ll fit. These, by the way, also offer great photo ops."

Thanks I appreciate your info, I am short but around 2x almost 3x. I carry my weight around the middle. I am hoping to be able to ride jurassic park river adventure and spiderman. As I tend toget motion sickness on roller coaster rides I guess it would not be so bad if I can't ride that one. I'll leave that to my kids. Thank you so much.

Hi Deby,
I can really really help you. I am just around the same as you. I am saddened by it, but hey what can you do. It is actually funny you started this because I just wrote to Universal on this matter because I am so upset. If you are around my size, roller coasters are out. They have the seats set up outside to gurantee that "large" people can't fit in them. Doesn't that make you feel better. I get pissed everytime. Dr. Doom actually wasn't a problem for me. The seats a flat and have a nice harness. Fits a little snug but no complaints. Don't worry about Jurassic Park. You can't 100% get on that. It is a bench with a bar that comes down to your stomach so it stops when you want it to. If you take up more than one seat and the people in back of you are telling you to move down and you can't. Then feel free to use the finger or I guess maybe something cleaner (you know I am kidding). Getting on JP is the same as Spiderman. A row with a bar that comes down. Hope I could help.

Thank you so much for your reply, you really helped a lot. I will not even try the roller coasters i would probably get sick anyway. You were very helpful I am looking forward to going.

You may be able to ride. Don't feel embarassed by testing out the seats outside each attraction. Many people do it , so you will not feel alone or out of place.

Have a wonderful trip. I know you will have a wonderful time!

Yeah I agree with spidey. At least try. Odds are you can't fit or you are just not comfortable. Spidey are you skinny or... It isn't that easy to go to a theme park where they don't even accommodate to obese people. I love coasters and I can't even go on them. What in this is world is fair?

The Hulk and DD do have a couple seats for "larger" people. Ask the CM abut them.

I know what you are talking about but that is what I am talking about. They don't fit either. It is still the same seat with just longer straps on the seat belts. I think it is crazy how they did this. First why don't they just do what MIB does with the retractable seat belts. Then why don't they just make the seats larger. How hard is that.

Deby-

A couple of things to know.

First off, you will have NO problem at Spidey. The lap bar is set up for all, and you don't have to worry about an overhead harness, like you would find at Hulk or Dueling Dragons.

Second-Ask the employees. They work there and know the seats that you can fit in comfortably.

Third-HAVE A GOOD TIME!

Thanks to all for all your info, you were all very helpful and helped me relax a little better. I can't wait to go. I will try the test seats, thanks

You know what I think irritates me more. It's that they actually have those test seats out there. Who would have to worry about them. Only overweight people. We know height has nothing to do with it (hieght as in being very tall, you have to be 54" to ride) and there is nothing else that it can be. Rockin Roller Coaster doesn't have those. Y? Because they fit all. They took that into consideration. they honestly have to change these cars. What ideas do any of you people have on the new improved seats. Even if you are skinny.

What I would like to know is, if they have the "larger" seats, why not just make them ALL that way? What if you are a "large" person who happens to like the front row of a coaster? I think putting the "large" seats in the 5th row is deplorable.

Sheesh, my first post on these boards and I come in griping. Sorry! :)

Movie Guy. You took my thoughts and threw them on this message board. Isn't that so true. That is exactly what I thought. How could they not put a parge seat in the front row. That is so wrong. Someone else finally see's a problem here.

The larger seats are not "the same seat with just longer straps". The actual seats are bigger too. I've ridden in them on both Hulk and Dueling Dragons, and they are definately larger seats.

Try them out at the entrance of the rides, and be sure to ask the ride attendants when you get inside to direct you to those seats.

Most of all, have fun!

Ok if what you are saying is true then they really didn't do to well. Those seats are very tight no matter what they say. I don't think they are different because they look the same plus this is one of those mass production things. They just mass produce the same seat then spray paint them for the ride. The whole thing is bogus and needs to be changed.
