I'm a self-confessed roller coaster chicken who is trying to reform. I've done all the WDW coasters - including R'n'RC (but not yet Tower of Terror). I've also done relatively tame Busch Gardens rides - Scorpion and Python. I'm trying to work my way up to bigger and scarier rides. :guilty:
To judge what to go on in what order, I'd really appreciate your thoughts on what IOA coasters are scariest (if you can compare with R'n'RC that would give me something to judge against). I particularly dislike the 'droppy' feeling you get in your stomach.
Thanks for your help rehabilitating me :thumbsup2

Hulk--you start out by climbing uphill thru a tunnel, when all of sudden, you are catapulted! no big drop awaits you on the other side, but rather a twist-down and then loops. it's comparable to RnR.
DD--old fashioned "clacky-clack" uphill (racing another coaster next to you), but again, no big drop....sort of twists first while going down. IMHO, DD is fast like RnR and Hulk isn't as fast...DD SEEMS longer (altho, i don't know that it is), but Hulk is better as far as loops and barrell rolls. If you can do RnR, you can do these two at IOA....be brave and just keep telling yourself: "I'm 100% safe....no way they'd let me ride if it weren't safe." You can do it....I'm sure you won't be disappointed that you tried! :thumbsup2

Since you've been to BG, it may be easier to compare the IOA coasters to theirs. I would say DD is similar to Kumba. Hulk would be more like Montu, except you're not hanging from bottom of the track. Neither are as bad as Sheikra. If you don't think about the coasters before you get on, you'll do fine. Honestly, Kumba is a much better ride than Python or Scorpion. It's smoother, & isn't any scarier than the other 2 once you actually ride. If I were to compare the IOA coasters to RnRC, I would say that DD comes closest. The Mummy isn't bad at all. The scariest part of that ride is the fact that it's an indoor coaster. If you're not afraid of the dark or special effects, the Mummy won't be scary to you.

I'd say that all of Universal's coasters don't really have that "droppy" feeling you get on some others.

The reason why is mostly because there isn't really any that just go up and then down, Hulk and Dueling Dragons both have very short real drops, and have a lot more twists and turns.

Hulk's start is a lot like Rock'n'Roller Coaster but it's going up like a cannon-shot and actually only goes up to about 40 mph. It's the twist at the top when you do that which makes it more fun!

I'm glad to know this too! I have always been a chicken at heart!!! Didn't ride my first coaster until I was 13 and by then it was too late! I hate the incline and the drops most, but I also have a fear of heights!!! Seems to get worse as I get older (big 40 now!!!!) Thanks so much for the info. guys! Have fun!!!!

I am a roller coaster junkie - the bigger, the faster, the better, IMO! :p The coasters at IOA are excellent! The Hulk really took my breath away when you go from going uphill at a normal pace, to being shot out of the tunnel quickly. I loved it! :cool1: Dueling Dragons, though, was probably my favorite - especially Fire. Both coasters (Fire and Ice) are different, so ride them both to have two different rides! Not at IOA, but at Universal, is Revenge of the Mummy... OMG! What an amazing ride! DS (11) rode it like 13 times that week. EXCELLENT, EXCELLENT roller coaster!!

As another poster said, remember that safety is first and foremost... They'd never let anyone ride them if there was any danger.

Go and have a great time! The parks are sooooooo wonderful. I wish we were there still!

dueling dragons in IOA is smooth with quite a few loops but not too many droppy feelings

Oops! I didn't even notice that you had asked about IOA specifically. I hope my post didn't confuse anyone.

Thanks for the feedback folks - I appreciate it :thumbsup2 and the Busch Gardens info is a bonus - double thanks :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2
