Inventory Control: How far in advance...

should you fax over a request to reserve a Cat 1 room?

My family was been on a 3-day, a 7-day Eastern, and we will be going on another 7-day Eastern in 3 weeks (can't wait).

The first three cruises have been in Cat 5 rooms. There are only four of us in our family (DW, DD 11, DD 6 mos, and myself) so a Cat 5 is really all we need but I was considering "shooting the moon" and trying to get a Western Caribbean cruise in a Cat 1 suite (preferably the Walt E. Disney).

If you faxed over to Inventory Control how was the experience? Did you get confirmation of your request?

If I am looking for the summer of 2006, is two years far enough out in the future to have a chance at a Cat 1?

Thanks for any help,

Jeff

From what I understand....the further out the better you have of getting it. I already send my requests in for 2006 for that suite also.

No, you dont get a confirmation from them...the only thing I got, was the receipt that printed out from the fax saying they received it.

They will call you when the dates open up if the room you want is open.

Have a great cruise.....

Travis

As Travis said, the sooner you fax your request, the better. I've already faxed my request in for a Cat. 2 for the summer of 2006. This worked for us on our recent cruise. However, DCL did not call us to inform us that we got the Cat. 2. I found out by calling on the day the bookings opened up. HTH

It would be nice to have some communication with DCL Inventory Control. I would like to know that someone found the fax request and filed it accordingly or whatever they do with it. I have seen many faxes lost along the way so this is not an effective way to handle clients who are paying "top dollar" for Cat 1, 2, and 3 rooms.

That being said...

Our family likes to have a big vacation just before school opens so a 10 day to 2 week vacation is usually planned right around the 3rd and 4th Week in August.

If August isn't available I would like to know now (or as soon as possible) because I could plan something earlier in the summer, but I don't want to wait until it is too late.

If August 2006 is booked then June and July will more than likely be too so then the summer of 2006 is completely out of the question. I guess I could send a blanket request for June, July or August, but August is still our preference.

Thanks for the feedback,

Jeff
