My dd is 7yo. When we go to Hollywood Studios, one of her favorite rides is the Star Wars ride. She has never seen any of the Star Wars movies and doesn't really understand the characters. For the Star War gurus out there this may be considered negligence of my parental responsibilities. :lmao: We are going to Disney this June and the weekends happen to be the Star Wars Weekends.

So,

What is the best way to introduce her to the Star Wars story line? Is there one or two movies that would be "must sees" for a 7yo? Any fun ideas?

Thanks

original trilogy which is "A NEW HOPE", "EMPIRE STRIKES BACK" and "RETURN OF THE JEDI". They are on DVD.

The prequels can be SKIPPED.

Welcome to the world of Star Wars.

<------ Huge Star Wars fanatic that will ride Star Tours a lot with 8 year old nephew in May.

Episode 4 is the best place to start, IMO. That's the original 1977 movie we all watched as kids. Perfectly appropriate for a 7 year old. The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi are great too. My DH is a Star Wars NUT. He has our 3.5 year old watching the Clone Wars cartoons on the Cartoon Network, but I don't recommend them. A word of caution... If you kid gets into the movies and you do watch the prequils, please don't rent episode 3, Revenge of the Sith. Its dark and has some really horrifying violence.

I agree with the PPs - A New Hope (the "original" movie) is the best to start with. The first time my DH watched it with DS, I thought he was going to shed a tear - watching Star Wars with his son, what an emotional moment for him ;)

Definately- our DDs loved Star Tours, and have seen Star Wars (Ep 4) many times, there is also a newer animated movie (don't know if it is out in DVD yet) called the Clone Wars- and it is a cartoon on Cartoon Network also thpugh I am not sure exactly when it is on. Have a Family movie night!

What occurs at Disney during Star Wars Weekend. :confused3 I can't seem to find much information about this event.

I really like the new ones myself. But I agree you need to see the old ones too, but I say see them all. But for a child, my son being 6, I would say to definantly see Revenge of the Sith, and the new Clone Wars movie and the cartoons that are on tv. I did not like the Clone Wars cartoon movie or the cartoons, but my son loves them. My son also loves I, II, and III better than the original trilogy, I think it is because the old ones look so old to kids.

My personal opinion is that Revenge of the Sith is very dark and scary. It's NOT a kid's movie. I don't like that my sons have seen it at all. DH and I argued about that one.
