Int'l Driving Permit ??

Hello!
This might be an extremely outdated question and feel free to get a good LOL from it .... It's been 15 years since we've been to Europe ... Do International Driving Permits even exist anymore? Would I need one to drive in Iceland for the two days we are there? OR Do we need anything special besides our US drivers license to drive in Iceland? THANKS!

Figured it out! State license is ok!

I don't think we have gotten the International Drivers License in years. It mainly just makes it easier for people from other countries to understand the info on a US license.

We got them for our trip in Feb to France. I handed them over at the rental car counter with my state DL and she handed them back and said only the authorities need those.

i know in France, technically you need your US drivers license, plus a "Notarized copy of it in French" or the International Drivers Permit. The latter seems much easier to get assuming you belong to AAA.

We went to Poland last summer and they asked for it at the car rental counter. I'm glad we had obtained one prior to the trip. It was very easy to do at AAA.
