I was wondering... If you had an intimate wedding, did you use a non-Disney photographer? Are you happy that you used a non-Disney photographer?
I'm worried that we won't have enough pictures, and would possibly trade our 2 hour photographer that comes with the package for a Honeymoon photo session if we end up using a non-disney photographer. For awhile, I was under the understanding that you could only use a Disney photographer... but that doesn't seem to be the case! Soo...
Who did you use, how much did he/she cost, and how many pictures did you get?
Thanks so much! I am getting so worried we won't have enough pictures!
:confused3 I just don't think 40 pictures altogether won't be enough!!

I was an intimate bride and I used Randy Chapman for his smallesst package and then I added a couple of hours, but I was more than ready to increase our package. Now the number of pictures I got well I haven't counted but I believe I have over 500 shots and they are all great! That is one decision I do not regreat at all. My hubby and I actually just took one of our Randy reprints in to be framed and the associate we talked to insisted on being the only one to work on our picture because he was so impressed with the quality.

Just to show how impressed we were with Randy, the next time we are in Florida we will hopefully be doing another shoot with him, and when we have kids we're hopefully going to have Randy do all of our family pictures.

We did the honeymoon session for our DPS time I believe we paid 50 for the pakcage they were offering at the time. This was last year so the amount might have changed.

Randy is one of the best non-Disney photographers.
We used him for our intimate wedding. He was wonderful to work with. He gave us a huge binder with at least 200 photos in (not framed) but he also gave us the disc so that we could print off what we wanted. There were over 500 photos on that disc.
I highly recommend him.

Another vote for Randy. He was our Wedding Photographer last September and also my mentor as a Wedding Photographer.
He has a fabulous reputation and is worth every bit of praise.

Was it difficult to get Randy? I don't have long left ($49 days!) and I'm just not super happy with the Disney photo package. About what did you pay for him for an intimate wedding? (If I may ask)
Thanks!!

D'oh! It was too late to get Randy. I found Misty Miotto, I really like her style. She seems to have a good package, too. Has anyone used her? :Pinkbounc

Also, was it hard to not use the Disney Photographer? I think I'd like to use the 2 hours on a Honeymoon package. Did Disney give you a hard time about this? :)
Thanks!!
Kim

No, Disney won't give you a hard time on not using their photographer. If you are going to swap for the honeymoon package, tho, I'd get a call in to get your time booked asap.

Here is the package that i have payed for with Randy.

Intimate package for 575.00 all photos in a album approx 200 plus you will get the master CD so you will have the copyrights to your wedding photos for additional printing back home.

Add tax to this price also but i think it is fantastic value and he is very talented.

Here are some numbers for you to contact him.

CinderellaFan - that is exactly what we paid for our vow renewal with Randy as well. We got almost 500 pictures, approximately 400 regular pictures and then an additional 100 shots in black and white. He was awesome!

HOW MANY??!!!!! That's a fantastic amount - how long was he with you for?

Anyone know how many Disney take as part of the Intimate package?

Disney takes on average 40-50 according to the woman I spoke to at Disney... and you get an album of *20*

So I found this other photographer, she takes great pictures, but you don't get 500 ... I'm going to ask her if she can be competitive in her packages.

Yep, we got very close to 400 different pictures and then another 100 in black and white that were copies from the colored 400 pictures.

We had an intimate vow renewal and only paid for Randy's basic package as listed. So he showed up at the resort before the ceremony and took pictures of my daughter and I there at the Beach Club, met us at the WP and took pictures before, during and after the service. Then we went to Commander's Terrace at the GF and he took pictures during the cake cutting. After we were done there, he went with us out onto the sand at the GF and took some pictures on the beach.

He was wonderful. I have 3 small kids (4, 7 and 10) and a DH who doesn't like to be photographed and he was very patient with all of them and we got wonderful pictures of everyone!

Disney Intimate Wedding does not take a lot of pictures - about 40-50 is pretty accurate. They may go a bit higher but you will not get all of them.

As a rule of thumb, with a photographer using digital equipment you should get about 100-130 pictures taken in a hour. This is about 2 pictures per minute. Of course, this is an average because during the reception it slows a bit as people are eating... :). During the ceremony it should be higher to capture the emotions. :)

So in average, for 3 hours, about 400 pictures. Additional B&W, selective coloring, cropping and special effects pictures can be easily made from these and added to the package.

For an 6 hours wedding, about 600 -800 pictures again additional B&W, selective coloring, cropping and special effects pictures can be easily made from these and added to the package.

Of course the numbers above assume that the photographer has a 1% or less of missed shots such as overexposed background (washout with little details), slanted horizons (not done on purpose), underexposure (dark subjects), subject blinked, subject moved etc...

With today digital technology, a photographer should not put a limit on the number of pictures taken at an event.

Hope this helps.

I got an email from Randy last night, and even though his secretary said he was booked yesterday, I replied and asked if he could squeeze me in.
If he can't I'm going to ask Misty Miotto if she can be competitive about her package. :cool1:

We hired Randy Chapman to cover our ceremony. We're glad that we hired him. Within only 2 hours of his time, he took 500 photos for us! (We paid him $475 ) . His quality (and quantity) of work is just amazing.

I have to recommend total imagery here. Ryan and Michael were amazing shooting our wedding.

Disney are fine with non-disney photographers, we too had an intimate wedding and with the included photos with the package we had them just do an arrival black white story book kind of thing.

I loved having the different photographers, it meant I had a good range and style of photos.

Just found this thread (finally allowed to get onto my wedding planning as we had my little brother's wedding two weeks ago!).

This sounds like a great idea and I have bookmarked Randy's site. I just wondered how you trade your Disney photographer's time for another package?

For the record we have nothing booked yet as we're not marrying until 2009, but I was just wondering as it seems a perfect tradeoff!

So you had 2 photographers at your wedding? I didn't think photographers liked that? I thought you had to use your Disney photographer for a honeymoon shoot if you had an external photographer?
