Can someone please tell me how this works!! I did check the DVC website and saw there are many places to exchange into, but unsure how it works. For people who have used it, is it good? My other question is the points. Do you have to go for 7 nights? Are the points based on double occupancy?

I just booked my first exchange a few weeks ago. All stays are for 7 nights. The points are based only on the type of accomodation you take. And you can ask if they have any studios available which are less points.
So, to start, call MS and ask them to perform an instant search of certain properties or a whole geographic area during your date range. If they have a match available right then, you can book it immediately - 75 dollar fee.
If nothing is available (Which is usually the case), you pay 75 dollars and they put you on a wait list. You have to be VERY SPECIFIC with your dates and places because if anything in your search comes up, they confirm it immediately and send you a confirmation in the mail - in other words, no chance to think about it. (They have a letter rating system for every resort so you can ask what it's rated before you add it to your list of potential places)
We were able to exchange for a resort in Cabo for next summer - 7 nights in a 1 bedroom for 144 points - which is an outstanding value.
Now that we have the hang of how to exchange, we will try to do it more often - the amount of places we can see is great!
Hope this helps!

II must be for 7 nights, BVTC can't be for 7 nights per contract. Points for a 1 BR are generally 160 and a 2 BR 270. A studio will be a little less but not much and a 3 BR somewhat more. Basically you decide what resorts on the list you will accept and what dates are OK. You call MS and they set up the exchange. If it's available then, they confirm it, if not they put in an ongoing search. They will confirm it if an exact match comes through so don't put anything you won't accept. It is your responsibility to check out the resorts you request to make sure they will fit your needs. MS will give you the info they have but will not do much hand holding in this area.

BVTC is a direct reservation so you really know up front if you have it or not in most cases, II is a more wait and see circumstance.
