Forgot to ask this question..

I fully understand that you can book 11 mos in advance at DVC Home Resort and 7 mos at other DVC properties...

How long in advance can you book Interval? Is it 7 mos in advance of proposed stay or longer?

Also, for those that use Interval..I took a quick glance in the Dream Book on Interval....It appears for "off season" times, a 2 BR through Interval I believe is 207 points for a week...How easy is it to get a trade for example August in Aruba? I believe in Aruba August would be "low season"... Anyone? How far in advance can I book?

Much thanks in advance!!!!!:goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes

I believe you can put your request in 2 years in advance of you travel dates. I've only done one exchange and that was for Kauai so I don't have any info for Aruba.

You can request up to 2 years from today based on check in date though many resorts don't allow deposits to II that far in advance. Most are at or just under 12 months out though a few are further out. Still it's helpful to be in line when deposits happen to improve your chances of success.

Does anyone know the likelihood of getting a booking 1 yr in advance?

Does it depend on which DVC Resort is your "home resort"? Do some trade easier than others?

For example, BCV or AKV...Will those trade higher?

Thank you very much!!!!!!!!!!!:goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes

No one truly knows that information. II could get at it indirectly based on historical information but they won't release the info anyway. At times they may have a good idea that you WON'T get it because the trade power or resort quality doesn't match up but even then, they won't share the information. Note that the resort quality should generally not be an issue trading DVC due to the arrangement between II and DVC. However, trade power is a definite issue for many DVC trade attempts. Those with experience can give you an idea based on what you're asking for (resort, unit size, demand of the week) and how far out you're requesting. But it would be an educated guess at best and also based on historical data.

II gives DVC generic trade power, basically an average of the units they get from DVC. This hurts ones chances to a degree though the fact that many DVC trade requests are for resorts where there is an internal trading preference (Marriott, Westin) or for resorts that are available to other groups outside II (too many to list) is a far larger factor.

Given the arrangement between II and DVC, the home resort does not matter currently (it did several years ago). Non of this matters for request first and as asked, probably doesn't for deposit first either. However, there are some nuances that one MUST understand prior to do a deposit first and use it successfully.

I don't think that Aruba in August will cost 270 points. I would check with MS to verify that. Summer months in Carribean are peak travel times because of kids being out of school.

The info I had a few years ago was that Aruba (or at least the Ocean Club) was HIGH season weeks 51-16 and MID season the rest. This could vary year by year and even resort by resort.

This is one more thing that annoys me with DVC's II policy. There is not an actual point chart that you can reference for each resort.

It's actually worse than that. The points aren't truly set UNTIL the match comes through. Still, it's easy to get a good idea and the difference between MID and High season isn't that much (16-18 points). But I do think DVC is leaving a lot of the table with II that they could get to benefit the members and make trading DVC a more reasonable option. I've outlined many of the issues before but won't go into them here. The worst part about it is that II would likely prefer some of them to the current setup and it's DVC's choice that is detracting from the value of this program. Worse still is it appears there's no real benefit to DVC other than to keep exchanges to a minimum.
