Internet sound not working

I can't get my internet sound to work. If I play something like a cd or thru winamp it plays. But a movie on-line or music has no sound. This happened once before and I fixed it. I can't remember how though. It was a minor setting that somebody had accidently clicked off. Any tips.

If your speaker icon in the task tray, by the clock at the bottom of your screen. Right click and open it. See if mute has been checked or if the settings have been changed to a headset (if you have one). Check Options/properties to make sure that everything that should be checked is checked.
