Internet Rate....Can't honor, met its capacity

After several attempts at National's website.....I finally gave them a call. As of 8/21 they are offering $209/week internet rates for minivans. When I enter the information, the weekly rate doesn't reflect the internet rate. I called National and after 20 minutes of her failed attempts (trying various entries), the lady called Orlando's counter and the employee at the counter claims that the internet rate can't be honored because the 50 designated vans have already been rented for that rate.

Could this be possible? I asked for another National Car phone number and this employee said she would try to get to the bottom of this.

Any suggestions? The second employee suggested that I keep trying it over and over again. (Isn't that her job? I thought I was the customer needing the service?):rolleyes:

Most discounts for air, hotel, cars are capacity controlled. They only allow so many at the discount rate. With car rentals, they can only accept reservations for the number of cars they have, so you sometimes run into a situation where the maximum have been rented.

I agree to keep trying. Someone may cancel their reservation and you can get it.
 
You may not have been aware of the restrictions on this offer. Travel from 8/24-10/8, and you must pickup between noon Sunday and noon Thursday.
 
Hi: Are you just interested in renting from National. We have gotten great rates on a minivan through Dollar and we have always been happy with the service, etc. Also, if you check Mousesavers, there may be a code for discount and check the Dollar site. I get their newsletter and they do offer deals on the minivan. I have never paid more than $199 a week for it. Good luck!

You might also try Alamo, which is running a similar promotion.
