Hi everyone
we are coming up on our first visit as dvc members
i had a question regarding the internet connection in the rooms. I understand if you are a dvc member staying on points, the internet is free. Is there a cord that comes out of a socket that we can just plug into our computer or do we have to bring our own ethernet cable?

Thanks for your help.

Jim

Hi there. Disney does supply a network cable that is found in a bag in the closet. Or you can bring your own if you feel like it. Disney will charge you for the cable if you take it home with you.

They supply a cable - but it is short. Some resorts like SSR has the hookup in the bedroom. I work while others are sleeping on vacation so I always bring a 50 footer with me so I can drag the laptop around the unit.

Some people have been using a wireless travel router (basically a small wireless AP) to make it more flexible. The Apple Airport Express is generally recommended. I've been looking into one myself but haven't pulled the trigger.

Yep I'm one of the Airport Express (aka AEBS) fans. Don't get the Airport Base Station (ABS) there is nothing wrong with it, it's just not the little travel sized one.

If you go to http://Store.apple.com and look down the left side of the page, there is a link for refurbished Apple products, http://store.apple.com/us/browse/home/specialdeals/mac/mac_accessories . They have them right now for $85 (the have an MSRP of $99.)

I buy mostly Apple refurbished products. They come with the same warranty (when you buy them from Apple) as new and they have been "burned-in" and tested.
