If there is another post about this pls accept my apology .

Just spent a long time on the phone with ADR, just wondered if anybody has an opinion as to why this hasn't been made available for on-line-internet dinning reservations?
Seems clear to me that it wasted 10 or 15 mins of the nice person on the other end of the line's time to tell me that this "wasn't available, that wasn't available"....so I say "let's check this.. or that".. , "but no,that's not available either".. so here we go again.

So, just wondering if anyone has an opinion as to why they keep this a call thing? Same as no 'toll free' #'s I guess.. the old fashioned way.

It's all okay with me. I love DW!!

Hope you are all having a magical day!

I believe there is an upgrade going on now that will allow online ADRs. Which is why you can only book now 90 days in advance (except for a certain few restaurants). I think the upgrade is due to be completed in October -- or maybe I am just all confused -- something is going on though!! :confused3

Well, they have a system in place for Golf Tee Times, so they could definitely use the same system by tweaking it a little bit

Rumor and general consensus is that it is coming with part of the new upgrades they are doing to their reservation system.

There has been several discussions on this topic. If it does happen with the new reservation system, there are several things to keep in mind.

Double bookings will probably not be allowed at all. So if you can't decide which park you are going to on that specific day, you probably won't be able to make two dinner reservations for the same time at different places and then cancel the one you don't want later.

Right now, Disney makes reservations based on number of tables and not really by people. So that is going to have to be addressed. Making a reservation now for eight people is usually for two tables of four.

If there is going to be internet bookings, be aware that the system will not be as flexible as things are now. I think for initial bookings of your trip, it'll work fine. But all the tweaks people trying to do leading up to their trip is going to be cumbersome. What if you add people to your party?

Just my opinion. I'm OK with online booking since I only make one reservation per trip (eat counter service and off site). But I can only imagine all the posts in the future about how the system isn't letting us do this or that when we could before. We'll still be picking up the phone and calling Disney World just as often as now.

it'd never work. too many variables. just deal w/ the flawed system the way it is like the rest of us. the only thing i hope for in the new system is fixing the glitch about when they search for two-top tables it showing nothing available, but if you ask for three it'll show them. but i'm not one of the people that has "moral issues" asking for a three-top in the current system if its only two people dining. as a matter of fact, guest services flat out told me to try that for a past trip, so they seem to be fine with what most of you think is "working the system."

Personally, I would love it. I hate calling for ADR's, but I think the logistics would be a nightmare.

I think it is in the works. I imagine they can systematically find a way to deal with the same issues that the operators deal with. The system won’t be perfect but neither is the current system.

I am of the opinion that if you call for an ADR and any table is available that fits your party you should get it. If you call with a party of 2 and the only table is for 8 it should be yours. I don’t think they should tell you there is no availability and then 3 hours later when someone with 8 calls they get the table.

An online system can be tweaked to handle these situations and then the logic can be changed if they change policies. Relying on people to do it means that policies are not universally applied.

I think it would be good for like the dinner shows, then maybe try BBB start slow & keep adding with updates.

That would be great. But the only way it would really work in my opinion is that they would need your CC to prevent people from double & triple booking.

It is already in the works!!! Its sure to be a pretty dynamic system, so once it is up and going, expect some problems

That would be great. But the only way it would really work in my opinion is that they would need your CC to prevent people from double & triple booking.

See I don't think even requiring a CC is going to stop that.....we don't carry balances on our credit cards, but we have two credit and three debit cards (one of the credit cards is for business expenses, one is Disney VISA that I use for the rewards but pay off weekly, and the debit cards are because we have three different checking accounts).

So....that would mean if I were so inclined I could make 5 different reservations using different cards. And I know in our circle of friends we probably are near the bottom for number of cards they own!

Of course if you required the CC and then had a 48 hour cancellation requirement or else charge a fee of some sort, at least that would mean that people would have to make their decision 2 days ahead of time and there might actually be some hope of either booking an ADR last minute, or walk up. So it has it's positive points.

But another thing I see not working for this.....our trip is in November, but one of my card expires in two weeks....the new one came in this weekend but it has a different expiration date on it of course. I know when that happens I have to call and tell the companies that we have automatic payments (utilities, etc) of the new expiration date. For some reason their system can't just advance the expiration date, it will actually deny the charge (which is a royal pain for me!). So....with Disney letting you make ADRs 6 months in advance, chances that half the credit cards holding those ADRs would have expired and therefor no consequences....well, it's only a matter of time before people work that system to their advantage.

But, it's not like people haven't figured out how to work the system now, and there really is not much that Disney can do about it....they track by phone number right now, but how many families don't have multiple phone numbers they can use (landline, every member has a cell number, work numbers, etc). I gave Disney my cell number for my ADRs in case some change happens while I'm there, I'd hate to have them call looking for me at home when I'm 2,500 miles away, lol.

There will ALWAYS be people who will work the system. I'm hoping that with online ADRs that it will be easier for people to find exactly what they do want, so they won't feel compelled to take what's available and keep trying back to tweak it. I've got several that I keep trying to get better times....but it's time consuming to sit on hold, then have to make small talk while the CM looks it all up, etc. If I could simply go online once or twice a day to check myself it could be quite fast......and like many things I do online I could do it while I'm talking business on the phone (like now, lol.....listening to a customer droll on and on and on).

I think when it first comes out it's going to be a pain because any new system has glitches that weren't worked out.....and the programmers didn't think of this or that....and the public will find ways to break the program.....but if it's really supposed to come out in October....I predict by the time April and booking Free Dining comes out, it will be ready for that challenge, lol. Too bad they didn't think of this LAST year, so that the bugs would be worked out and I could use it for our trip. Oh well, guess I'll have to start planning another trip when we get home, lol.

Anyone else dreading October 24, with 3 months worth of ADRs being made at the same time? My trip is April 6-13, so I can't call until Oct. 24 except for our Chef Mickey's. That's a weekday, so I'll have to work as well.

Your right I didn't think of people using different cards. I only have my Disney Visa so I could earn rewards . That's why I don't want any other card.
I use it pay it use it & pay it. But thinking with people who have a couple of different cards yeah they will double book with different adr's.
Maybe if they use your ress against it and only give you 1 choice per day per time now that might work. We shall see.

See that's not going to work either.....then you'd be excluding anyone who stays offsite (or lives locally) from being able to make an ADR because they aren't going to have a reservation number. Plus, reservation numbers change if you cancel and rebook for a different rate (which about a zillion people are going to be doing this week for Sept-Dec codes that are set to come out). As easy as it is to change ressies, someone somewhere will be greedy enough to put the deposit on their card, make another set of ADRs and then cancel. But you can't say well, if they cancel their ressie, their ADRs go to.... I've made most of my ADRs but will hopefully be getting a code so now my Res# will change...do I lose all my hard won ADRs just because Disney allows ADRs 180 days out but doesn't give out codes until 90 days.....or do I now have a new number to double book with?

I think people (and myself included) tend to get a little too worked up about ADRs.....I was in a near-tizzy because even though I called at 180 days, I didn't get everything I thought I wanted....then they changed the CP speakers, so then those didn't work for me either.....and then just yesterday I called yet again to try to fix some dinners that are really too late for us to enjoy, but I took them because "it's better than nothing".....and yesterday just on a lark I asked about Le Cellier with a choice of 4 dates that I don't care about what we reserved, would happily change.....the very first date I asked about I got three choices of time for Le Cellier for lunch....and that was for the Monday before Thanksgiving, which should be crowded and wild, but there were three times open suddenly. They weren't there last week when I called. So I'm finally getting it through my head to stop worrying so much......and to just call every few days and see if there are any changes. And I figure if I'm still not 100% happy with our ADRs when I arrive, I'll stop by the restaurant and see what they can do too. I've read of people getting into really difficult to book restaurants on the same day simply by asking at the desk about ressies for later. I'll let ya know how that works, lol.

I think it will be a perk for guests that stay on-site like EMH. It will be linked to your confirmation #. Since confirmation #'s are never reused that will be your reservation link, even when changes are made and you are issued a new confirmation # it will still like to your original confirmation # to avoid double ADR bookings.

Just my thoughts.
