Internet access in rooms?

I know that this has been asked before, but I cannot find the thread. Is there Internet access in the DVC resort rooms? If so, what type and how expensive is it?

It's strictly dial up access to a local ISP's phone number. Make sure that you use an Orlando access number, not Kissimme which is a toll call. Else the call is billed as just a local phone call at the DCV member rate.

At VB if you don't bring a laptop, you can use the Business centers PC in the lobby of the Inn. It is on the 2nd floor. It is $10 per hr to use. I am not sure but I think you can do the same at the BWV's also.

In the FWIW department, we bought a cable that hooks our laptop up to our cell phone which in turn has nationwide long distance included in it's plan.

Then we can access our home ISP anywhere we're at and don't have to worry about finding telephones, or local access numbers.

Although we've never done it, it's possible to get on line while parked at an interstate rest stop.....

Only downside is the connection runs at 14.4 which is fairly slow for surfing, but just fine for e-mails which are basically text.

It works great for the DIS though since once you surf a site once, all the graphics are stored on your hard drive. So for the DIS, it's just the basic text that has to download fresh.

What you should do, is find out if your cell provider has an option for direct digital internet access. You might be able to get something closer to a tolerable speed out of that cell phone without having to dial to anywhere. You still use a notebook in most cases for this type of access, with a special cable to connect the notebook up.
