Internet access at the campground

You can get internet access at your site by renting a modem from the front desk there is a fee for the modem plus the daily internet fee. They don't have enough modems for all sites I would recomend you get a modem when you first check in. We use our air card and have no problems. The only problem with an aircard is that you really cannot send pictures through your email it takes forever. But for everything else it is fine.

WiFi is a most I am so surprised Disney does not have it.

:disrocks:

However, only the preferred sites can use the cable modem.

I'm sure we all realize that it's not that Disney "can't" provide it there, only that it's $10 extra they can get. They don't seem to worry about what you can get somewhere else. We broke down and bought a sprint card that works very well. The cost for air card service for us is about 60 a month but, DW can use it when were not at Disney or we wouldn't have it. Sometimes in the morning I would pick up a couple of signals probably from other campers ( we were in the 400 loop ) but I never tried them since we have the card. I like to get on here while I wait for everyone else to wake up.:surfweb: ..

I personally think it's absolutely insane that they are charging $10 a day for something you get for free just about everyone these day. Even the fast food places around us have free Wi-Fi. For the price we pay to stay on Disney property they should throw in the wireless for free. Just my opinion.....:)

agreed 200% Time for Disney to get with the times and stop raping the customer.

I don't like it either, but hotels out in the "real world" are the same way. The cheaper hotels have free internet, while the fancy hotels almost always charge for it.
Doesn't make much sense. :confused3

I'd settle for $10 WiFi that I could pick up at any site...

agreed, but at the higher end hotels, my company is picking up the tab. At Disney, the freight is paid on the back of the American worker. Not good at all.

I agree, Hotels need to get with the times. I can kind of understand the "Marriots" of the world charging when they have primarily business travelers. Although, I think it would make more sense to include that cost outright. The CR in WDW has computers and internet included in all the rooms. I don't think it would be a huge deal to extend the service elsewhere in the "world."

The modem fee is refundable upon return to the front desk.

I've had the Verizon wireless air card since May of 07 ($60/mo) and send pics all the time via e-mail or uploading them w/o issues. I agree is not DSL or FO, but I can still push 500KBPS upload/download speeds so a 3.5mb pic takes less than 10 seconds.

If you are in a cabin, I believe the cable modems are in there already. Just hook up and allow the fee to be charged to your room account.

Ooh, I have been wondering about that. I'm staying in a cabin, too and want to bring my laptop. Can anyone confirm that the cable modems are already in the cabins?
Thanks!
