Does OKW have internet access? wireless? Any info would be greatly appreciated!! 12 more days!!

Not wireless....it's wired.....you can get a patch cord at the front desk --- or I bring my own. :)

Broadband connection is $9.95 per 24 hour period. Dialup is available for the price of a local call at 0.35 for DVC members and 0.75 for other guests - but make sure it's a local number as long distance surcharges are very costly.

Just curious - is there some kind of logon to get into the high speed internet? One night when I was at OKW last month, the dial-up was really slow so I thought I'd give the high speed a try. I had an eternet cord and plugged it in but nothing came up. I didn't know if you had to put in a website to access it. It was late at night, I didn't want to bother calling about it, so I just forgot about it (it was the end of our trip). You would think they would encourage use by putting some kind of sign in the room.

It has to be 'turned on' for access from your room.
(by telling the front desk, or calling from your room)

The connection is not near the phone/wall modem, there is a separate connection (in the 1BR and larger it's by the counter top next to the dining table). I just set the laptop on the table. When you connect and turn on the laptop an access agreement usually comes up automatically. I've never had to contact the desk. There is usually an information display on the table next to the telephone explaining how to use the service and it includes a number to call for assistance should it be necessary.

Enjoy!

No wonder it didn't work, I was connecting it under the end table! There was an outlet under there that fit an eternet cable, I think it was next to where the phone line came out.

I seen the same outlet that you did.

I never noticed one by the table either.

10 bucks a day for Internet access is to rich for my blood.

I just used dial up while I was there.

In our studio over Memorial Day weekend - I noticed it was near the table in the corner.

The letters "HSIA" was on the jack, if I remember correctly... (High Speed Internet Access) (or something similar)

The connection on the wall should be labeled something like HSIC - that's how I found it. Took me awhile though!

So do I need to have an ISP for dial up or does Disney turn on it's own dial up. I hate AOL and I'm not going to buy aol for one week. Does anyone know about this???

If I say that I want dial up ...will they say OK, the internet is on???

For dialup, you will need to have your own ISP account- WDW does not provide an account. I use netzero, which has a number of local access numbers for the WDW area. You can use AOL or any of the other inexpensive and free providers. Just make sure the access phone number is a local call. (Local numbers may be checked in the phone book in the room- all you need to check is the prefix number to make sure it is a local call.)
