Internet access at DVC resorts

Hi,

I'm about to leave for 2 weeks at WDW for my 1st trip as a DVC member. I'll be staying at BCV, BWV and OKW and I'm wondering if there is a way to bring my laptop and get connected to the internet and if so, what is the price ?

I'm not willing to pay 0.75$ or 1$ per minute so if it's not possible to do it at the resort maybe you have another suggestion ?

I'll have a car so going in Kissimmee is not a problem if I have to.

As long as your ISP has a local number, the only charge is $.35 for a local call ($.75 for non-members) from the phone in your room (they have a dataport on the side). I use AOL and their Orlando numbers are local.

So I could use one of these "3 months AOL free Internet Access" CD's and all I would have to pay is $.35 each time I connect (per call and not per minute right ??)

Right - as a DVC member, you pay a $0.35 / CALL charge for local calls. Just be very sure it is a local call. I usually connect for about five minutes, disconnect, and then ask at the desk to see my charges for the phone call to be sure it is a local call.

One other thing - it's a lot easier to have the local dial-up number ahead of time. One time I didn't, and had to call long distance to my normal number, log on, and look up the local numbers.

The main thing is to be certain it's a local call. For example many areas in Orlando are considered 'local' while some areas in Kissimmee are considered 'long distance'.

If you look in the phone book in your room you'll find about two pages showing which numbers are local. Find the section for the exchange you're calling FROM and it will list all the excanges that are considered local to that exchange.

If you're not sure, call the operator and ask.

we use www.netzero.com local phone numbers all over the usa and $0.35 per call....great to check in even if u log on 3 times a day. and u don't have to remember to cancel aol
