Internal Busses and Ferrys

What is needed to ride the internal Disney buses and boats? Do you need a ticket or a resort pass or both?

99.99% of the time you will not be asked for anything to board Disney transportation. On very rare occasions(4th of July, New Years Eve...) you might be asked for resort ID or ADR number when trying to get to certain resorts(Poly and CR spring to mind).

Once upon a time (August, 2003), a CM was checking park tickets near the boarding area for the MK ferry. Haven't seen that since that visit!
