Flying out of BWI this afternoon with my dd's team, probably a dozen of us on the same flight.

A friend and I booked the flight the same day and both purchased EBCI at the time of booking, she booked her flight an hour after I did. We both chose EBCI because when flying out of Baltimore the chances are the flight willl be a connecting or continuing so IMHO its worth the $10.

EBCI gave me A 37, 38 @ 39 and my friend A 35 @36! I am fine with the numbers but I was under the impression that it was first purchased first checked in and apparently that isn't the case.

Others without EBCI got B's at T24, the lowest I know of so far is B8.

Anyway - just thought it was interesting. Wonder what will happen on the way home!

I've experienced the same thing - sometimes it seems related to when you actually print your boarding pass - there doesn't seem to be a pattern, or not one that I can discern.

Why do you assume that first purchased/first checked in if your friend booked first and got lower numbers than? Isn't is quite possible that nobody booked EBCI between the two of you?

Friend booked an hour later..... so if anything, OP should have A 35 36 and 37 with their friend right behind them.

SW touts this as early check in based on when you purchased EBCI. The system is obviously not working if someone who buys EBCI after someone else gets a higher BP...... SW needs to do something about this or they could be looking at a legal mess......... obviously not from OP as they are still boarding together, but there have been reports of people who get B when they bought EBCI and other who checked in at T24 got A.

Maybe it's just not calibrated so finely as to distinguish by minute or hour just by day. Why they would do that when it would seem just as easy to include minutes and seconds I don't know, but I guess it's possible.

The same thing happened to me last month on flight from MCO to SAT, we had A42-44. EB is suppose to check you in 36 hours prior to flight, is this still correct?

Looks like a lot of people purchased EBCI for your flight.

Surely it's calibrated finely enough if the purchase is separated by weeks.
19 May 2010 - purchased 1 RT ticket to MCO with EBCI each way (for DH)
16 July 2010 - purchased 2 OW tickets to MCO with EBCI (me and DS)

I checked me/DS in first and we got A31-A32 and then I checked in DH who got A33 depsite his ticket and EBCI being purchased first.

Wow. Very interesting.

Interesting - my friend did check in to print out her bp's closer to T24 than I did. I wonder if all the EBCI go into a reserved pool of some sort and then its first come first serve at T24 among the EBCI?

I will report back after the flight home on Sunday if there is anything of interest.

I assume so, although a friend of mine had an experience that would seem to contradict this. It's bizarre in any case.
