Interesting story about girl with ASD

My sister in law sent me this link to a CNN news story about a young lady with autism and how she is able to communicate.

Last week the ABC Evening News had a segment on her. Also, they allowed people to send e-mails to her through that link and she responded to the peoples questions. They said (I think on Friday night) that she had received over 1,000 e-mails.

Wow; that is so awesome! I'm totally going to share that w/ my kids school (it's a full inclusion charter school). Carlie? is a wonderful articulate young woman and her life and words are making a huge impact.

I saw this video and it reminded me to much of my DD and how she might be at the age of 13. We just had her IEP today (she is non-verbal) and they possibly getting her a communication device to use at school. We are hopeful.

That's exciting.
My DD is old enough that there were no good communication devices at the time she was that little. I often think about how things would have been different if they devices that are available now were available then.
