While watching the commercials for the soon to be released digitally remastered DVD, Cinderella, it appears that Cinderella actually has light brown hair in the original movie. At the very most, she may be considered a "dark" blonde. Yet, all over current Disney gear she is definitely depicted as a yellow blonde. I'm sitting here with my Cinderella key chain and she's a platinum blonde, but not in the movie commercials.
I also thought that Sleeping Beauty had brown eyes in the movie-- I used to love that as a little girl because I'm blonde with brown eyes, which is unusual.
In merchandise, though, she's been made to be the standard blue eyed blonde.
I hadn't seen Cinderella in years. But, my 2yo dd got a Cinderella book and loves it, so I dug out my VHS copy of the movie and put it in for her. The first thing I noticed was the hair color.
Anybody remember the first Mickey? He has changed quite a bit as well. I think Disney wants to the minds of little mice on what mice should REALLY look like. It's a shame. He's so hip, wearing those little tuxedos. Poor mice everywhere are looking for little tuxedos so they can be just like Mickey...but they never will. It's sad really.
