So I was playing golf today at Osprey Ridge and as we were teeing off the topic of DVC came up in our group. The starter speaks up and ask if we knew that they were building a new DVC at Eagle Pines. I mentioned I had heard it was planned and scrapped a few years back but had heard nothing since. Don't know how reliable the source is but thought it was interesting that he brought this up without being asked. Thoughts?

I would say that Eagle Pines has as much chance of being built as any other location. DVC is going to continue to expand, where is the question. :confused3

And this falls under the tell Cm stuff so they get it out there. Then when the truth get rumored no one will know to believe it or not. I think it's all a ploy to keep interest circulating

I just don't think all the story's and truths the CM have told over the years could all be made up by each of them.

well I didn't like the plans or where they were putting it. but then I am not a golfer.

still want the Contemporary!!!!

I have to agree with the laughs. Now starters at a golf course are considered reliable sources?:confused3

Really I could care less until they build a great off site resort (Not DLC either).
That would add far more to my ownership and peak my interest far more than ANOTHER WDW DVC. Just my 2 cents.

Where would Eagle Pines be? Close enough to the STOL site to be the rumored Monorail DVC resort? I'm hazy on the geography.:confused3

No, Eagle Pines, if ever built, would be on the other side of Fort Wilderness from the STOL

The more resorts with have the better.

Why is that wrong?:confused3

There are actually a couple of reasons for this. First, I would say that resorts at WDW have reached somewhat of a "saturation" point. One of the reasons that DVC trades into really nice resorts is because it is hard to trade INTO DVC. If there are ALWAYS DVC rooms to trade into, this could affect the trade status of DVC's.

And, IMHO an EP would tip the scales in the wrong direction. I am someone who LOVES being attached to a deluxe resort, so for me, adding more condo style rooms (and probably a larger resort) would make it harder for me to stay at an "attached" DVC...but, that is just my opinion.

Now, if DVC wants to expand to places like DL....that would be really GREAT, IMO.

really really wish they would build one in Disneyland paris.

They would get loads of brits sighning up for that one.:)

I don't agree with that. If DVC were at a saturation point, it would be difficult even with incentives to sell the resorts. This doesn't seem to be happening as the announcement of a new DVC resort at the Animal Kingdom indicates. Hotel occupancy is a different issue. Second, I prefer the stand-alone resorts compared to the 'attached' resort but each has their charm for those who like a particular style. After staying at the BWV, I understand the need for valet but I would rather just park in front of my unit. I don't agree with limiting choices simply because it is a style that I don't like. As an example, I also think timesharing should be in 1-bedrooms and up and not studios. Given this, should I advocate limiting the building of any more studios in new units? I also understand that others like studios so in the end, why limit that choice because I don't happen to like it?

As far as EP, I think location is the key. From my perspective, many DVC members seem to like to be near where the action is. I think that is why BVC is popular. I think it would have been just as popular as a stand-alone or as an attached because of the location. Likewise, many of the comments about SSR has to do with its location near Downtown Disney and not being near the theme parks. In addition, there seems to be a desire that if the resort is not near a theme park, then it should be on a monorail that goes to a theme park such as is done at the Contemporary. Whether attached or stand-alone, I think the key will be the location to a theme park or access to the monorail to a theme park.

Disney may also become concern with hotel occupancy if many of the occupants end up buying at DVC and lowering the hotel occupancy rate. If this becomes a factor, I don't it's too farfetched to conclude that Disney would slow the growth of DVC to induce a higher occupancy rate. It has to balance the money it makes off DVC off the money it loses off the hotel revenues if the hotel occupants do purchase DVC. I wonder if there are any statistics available to the public that gives any indication on the effect of the expansion of DVC that it has on Disney's hotel occupancy.

All I have to say is when you can't get a room anywhere on sight 60 days in advance (this is CRO and DVC) there is not a saturated problem. You can pick out speical events through out the yea when this happens it's not a one time thing.

Yes we need a DVC in Cali but it would also stay full year around so it would have to be big enough to handle that. Yes we need another attached resort to MK somehow be it the monorail or other way Boat maybe.

SSR is proving to be a good choice for most that stay really very few complaints now thats it's got it's teeth cut.

What we need is another theme park.;)

I do not think many DISers actually realize how many people come to Disney for just the golf. I would think EP would be a great asset to the DVC resort collection.

I'm sure this is true. Do you maintain that for DVC members as well? I'm not questioning because I really have no idea. I personally golf and don't do it at WDW.

I've also seen VERY few posts here that even mention golf. There was a thread recently with someone asking golf question sfor their husband. Really that is all I remmeber seeing.

I am a golf professional. When I go to Disney I do NOT play golf. Maybe when my kids get older but for now the clubs don't get considered when making the trip. I know plenty people do play golf at Disney, but I honestly can't see Eagle Pines being much of a drawing card for DVC. I wish they would add a DVC in California or another off Disney site such as DISNEY'S ROCKY MOUNTAIN VILLAS :thumbsup2  :woohoo: at Steamboat, Vail, Keystone, Breckenridge, etc.....
