It depends on your perspective. If you always plan in your home resort preference window and stay at your home resort, it matters not. But if they add resorts it can make it better or worse for those at the 7 month window depending on the demand of the resort in question. I'm not saying it's bad or good, just reality. Any resort that is as high or more in demand than the destination resorts now (BWV, BCV, VWL) will make it better for everyone at the 7 month window except those who want the new resort. Any resort that is in less demand will make it worse for everyone at the 7 month window. SSR is a perfect example. While a great resort, it is not as high in demand overall as those I mentioned above. it is also a large resort with a lot of points floating around. A resort of this type (SSR) will produce enough points vying at the 7 month window to overpower the few units available even at 10 resorts the size of AKV and of similar demand. Why you say since SSR is only twice as large as AKV? Here's why. The majority of owners at AKV will stay there and if they don't, most will want to change to the other big 3 at the 7 month window creating no extra units available overall. The number of people trying to trade out of SSR will be 10 to 1 or more compared to the number wanting to trade to SSR. And those are additive to the points from VB, HH and to a degree, OKW.
Sorry but I am tired of SSR being the whipping boy of the boards. Go look on the rent/trade board and see how many folks are trying to get into BCV and BWV and even VWL compared to SSR. Those people gobble up those resorts right and left.
I am not sure where your 10 to 1 ratio is coming from maybe you have contacts in DVC that show you trends but I look on this board and see a ton of people who actually like SSR (me being one of them).
