What it means for me, is I may have to fly over to SD in 2026 to catch the Wonder since I've never been on it, and won't be going all the way to Australia for a cruise!Makes sense with Magic doing PC in spring. Was wondering what that would mean.
The Wonder comes back from aus and goes to SD in spring 2026 however. Plus the cruise schedule for the port of Sydney has dates posted through June 2027 and the last time the Wonder appears on that schedule is Feb 1 2027.I heard a rumor on our recent cruise that Magic will go to Alaska in 2026 and Wonder will stay in NZ/AUS year round...
Could be... who knows...
I'm curious what the post Wish-Class ships are like... hope they aren't like the new Monstrosities of the Seas....
Good to know! That's why you can't put too much in rumors! The Wonder comes back from aus and goes to SD in spring 2026 however. Plus the cruise schedule for the port of Sydney has dates posted through June 2027 and the last time the Wonder appears on that schedule is Feb 1 2027.

We absolutely love the Magic and the Wonder. Trying to take advantage of any opportunity to sail on them before what shall not be named. Wonder booked for Alaska in September, 2025 and Magic booked for WBPC in April, 2026.What it means for me, is I may have to fly over to SD in 2026 to catch the Wonder since I've never been on it, and won't be going all the way to Australia for a cruise!
I assume they will as big as works for there business. But if replacing the Magic and Wonder they would need to make sure the new ships are small enough to go to some of the places that are starting to (or at least talking about) making requirements that the cruise ships are no bigger then a certain size. I am looking at you Alaska and you Norway. There are also ports that the big ships just can not dock. So only having large ships could hamper where they want to offer cruises too.I'm curious what the post Wish-Class ships are like... hope they aren't like the new Monstrosities of the Seas....
DH was trained not to discuss high-level confidential matters in public, even with colleagues, to avoid being overheard, even when the topics were unlikely to be understood by the average person. They were also prohibited from viewing documents or emails in public. Given how Disney keeps everything close to their chest, it’s hard to believe that someone senior enough to be involved in long-term capital decisions—usually made at the highest levels—wouldn’t be similarly trained. The dates may be off but you’d be deluding yourself to think that there hasn’t been sunset planning of the Magic and Wonder. 30 years is a very long life for a cruise ship and eventually will not be cost effective to main them. I think Disney will not sell them off to be given a second life with a regional cruise operator. That might extend the life to 35ish years but eventually. We will be saying goodbye.
While it’s very probable that the ships will be decommissioned in the next few years, it’s unlikely that such high-level staff would discuss these matters in public. Even if they weren’t entirely in public, there could have been lower-level staff around. In my organization, we are super careful about discussing anything potentially confidential or controversial around staff members not already privy to that information. More likely, somewhat senior staff with limited knowledge are speculating and providing their opinions on what they would do.

But not as big as the Adventure or even MEGA SHIPS at 240,000.We were on the Magic earlier this month and talking with crew members that had some engineering knowledge, the Magic has seven years maximum life. They also said it was still scheduled for another dry dock which makes little sense if they are getting rid of her in the next couple of years.
As to the new ships - according to the Cruise Ship Orderbook, they will be different from the Wish class ships based on the information listed for the current Wish class ships. This is just preliminary information from an industry source. https://cruiseindustrynews.com/cruise-ship-orderbook/

Well, that's discouraging. We much prefer the "smaller" ships. Even the Dream class is too big, IMO.We were on the Magic earlier this month and talking with crew members that had some engineering knowledge, the Magic has seven years maximum life. Disney might be losing us. Don’t want to cruise with even more of my closest friends. We were on the Magic earlier this month and talking with crew members that had some engineering knowledge, the Magic has seven years maximum life. They also said it was still scheduled for another dry dock which makes little sense if they are getting rid of her in the next couple of years.

So I know nothing first off. But your comment makes me think. (dangerous I know.) If they can stretch out the Enchantment of the Sea couldn’t they give the Magic a new hull? Can’t they just place the top on a new bottom. (I’m sure that answer is no, probably just the torque on the main frame would ruin so much trying to move it over)interesting. 2028 would put her at her next scheduled dry dock. Perhaps the hull is getting a little too thin? If thats the case I can only guess it would be expensive to get her past inspection. Maybe it's a wait and see approach?
Every ship is required by maritime law to dry dock every X years based on its age (with X decreasing as age goes up) for routine maintenance and inspections. I'm not positive on the details but I believe once a ship hits 20 years old, it is required to dry dock every 5 years. Dry dock slots fill up years in advance so DCL will definitely keep scheduling the Magic until it is officially retired. We were on the Magic earlier this month and talking with crew members that had some engineering knowledge, the Magic has seven years maximum life. They also said it was still scheduled for another dry dock which makes little sense if they are getting rid of her in the next couple of years.
Well, that's discouraging. We much prefer the "smaller" ships. Even the Dream class is too big, IMO.
So some ports are setting limits on how many people can flood the ports. So is there a market for the ports that would allow the smaller ships?
I’m sure we can find a way to justify those prices that go up. “It’s the smaller port's, so we have to charge more” won’t that be a thing?
