When I had called CRO to change my FW ressie to include a pet loop (thanks to the latest addition to my family - a red Pomeranian named Tazz:D ), the CM told me to be sure that he was current with all his vacines since there is a problem with "red foxes" at Fort Wilderness! :earseek: If anyone has ever seen a red Pom, they really resemble little foxes!! Better be sure he never gets lose at FW!!!

Anyone see these little guys down there? All I have ever seen are lizards, armidillos and peacocks.;)

We did see a red fox when we were there in May. It was very small; smaller than the ones we have around our house.

Ooooo, I'd LOVE to see a fox!!!

The only wildlife we saw was the one peacock by the dock and TONS of lizards :)

Well it was small and very fast so you will be lucky to see it. DH and I saw it but none of the kids saw it!

I don’t mean to scare anyone -- but here on the Eastern Shore of Maryland we have a problem with red fox and rabies. As a matter of fact, last week we had a police officer that was bitten by a red fox and is now going through the shots.

I have made sure my son and his friends know that if they should see a fox or raccoon to stay clear!!! You just never know. I’m sure that the kennel/CRO was speaking about up to date rabies shots along with every other shot you must keep current. Our Vet did tell us that if our dog were to come in contact with an animal that did have rabies, we would only need to do something like a booster shot. Be very careful with small dogs -- foxes, raccoons, etc. can be very aggressive.

I, myself, have seen plenty of red foxes (they are cute) and raccoons, but I really don’t want them anywhere near me or mine.

Again I don't want anyone to think that every fox or raccoon you see will have rabies, but it is just best to stay away. Sorry if I scared anyone. I would just hate to hear a bad story from the Fort!
