This was an interesting article. I'm glad to see doctors are scrutinizing the IQ tests themselves, and how they're administered. The story seemed to focus a lot on "savant" type behavior and skills. In one sense, it points out how people with autism can have unique talents. It sounds like their brains, while weak in social interaction, somehow compensate in other regions.

But there are a lot of folks with autism who aren't cognitively impaired, but aren't savants either. Autism is so humbling. No 2 autistics/aspies are alike. Which I guess is what makes this disorder so hard to find a cure for, or find common ground. I know many folks are opposed to a cure, and I don't mean to offend. If I could cure what our dd has, I'd do in a heartbeat.

Regardless, the refining of the IQ tests is encouraging.

I am so worried about what the future brings for my Autistic son but with more and more awareness I think it helps educate others.
