New AP codes are out. Not so good. They only cover Sunday thru Thursday night stays! (Plus, it is still $74 with code, the public code that recently expired was $49.) I was waiting to add a Saturday night at a value so we could check in early on Sunday at OKW to avoid another dreaded studio with no tub, but I'm not paying peak rack rate - $109 plus tax. Guess we'll just leave during the night so we can get in late afternoon and cross our fingers we don't end back up in studio 5010.
Kicking myself for letting time slip by and not booking the public code. Oh, well!
Anyway, I found this interesting the Sunday thru Thursday thing cause I know many of us DVCers stay elsewhere the night before.

I was going to consider doing the ap rate in may when I renturn but I did not want the hassel of moving!! I am already moving from vwl to bcv to satisify the whole family, and guess what I am the one that usually packs it all up the the hubby takes to the car!!!!

The AP rates are higher than that code because it is Spring Break. The AP rate is apparently a little better than the code for Spring.

I got an AP rate for the second half of Feb this am. We check into the Polynesian on Thursday and check into BCV on Sunday. With AP rates, the rate you're charged for the first night carries through your whole stay. I know that doesn't help people who can't travel down until Saturday though.

BTW, on the resorts forum people are reporting getting AP rates for weekend checkins. Worth a try. My email said available for most nights with Sun.-Thurs checkins ...but it did not say that NO nights were available for weekend checkins.

I would call anyway and see if there is an AP rate available anyway. They have said they are not available on certain dates before and people called and were able to get them. They are probably limited availability.

but I am glad that I had Dreams book with the general code ( I hope they are checking to see if the other may be able to be applied). I hope this is only because the rooms are mostly booked because of spring break. I would hate to think that I might not get AP rates for Friday and Saturday anymore. I don't mind moving and I really like to check out different resorts where using points are insanely too many.

I was happy I booked the BDP (general public) code for those weekend nights in our April stay (end of the period in question), and did not hold out for AP rates. Both of our AKL nights aew weekend nights and the BDP code made them very affordable.

I'm with tjkraz on this one: wait until you get a good AP rate, see if it's worth it, then decide whether to buy one. And a child's pass will do just fine for booking rooms and getting other discounts.

Good luck!

I was able to get an AP rate for SSR with a Check in on Wednesday, March 23rd. I had the room at $255 with my DVC discount, but the AP rate was only $206. Still high - but the cash rate was almost $300 - gotta love Spring Break (NOT)

Anyway, despite my thread being moved :rolleyes1 , I was adding 2005 holidays into my Palm last night and discover Daylight Savings Time starts the day we check into OKW. So even if we leave very early from Atlanta we will lose an hour off the bat. :rotfl: It struck me as funny cause I was hoping we at least could get in early enough to get a somewhat decent room. I just don't want to see 5010 again! :charac2:

Robin,
Did you book through CRO or MS? I had heard MS will sometimes match an AP rate but they would not do it when I tried it last year. So I just had the reservation #'s noted on both reservations, worked out fine (had to check out and check back in on AP rate day).
