Over on the CB a poster tried to insult me by calling me gay.

I found it humorous as I am not (although my sister is). Has anybody ever tried to insult one of your straight family members or friends by calling them gay? FWIW, this is not the first time this has happened to me and I usually find their attempted insult quite humorous and never get even remotely angry because I find nothing wrong with being gay. How do your friends/family handle it?

My father was a homophobic jerk before I came out. He was not amused with anyone's attempts to make a pass at him or if they attempted to call him gay/queer when he was younger. Those incidents, usually resulted in him losing his cool and getting into a verbal or physical fight. Most of that happened before I was ever born, thank God.

Since I came out in my twenties, my father is much less of a jerk about the whole thing. His current wife is a bit of a holy roller and has encouraged me to "get right with God" :rolleyes1 My father is ok with Corey, but it's his current wife that seems to have more of a problem than anyone. I think she blames me for her oldest son not coming to visit more often because he is a homophobic jerk and has made statements that he doesn't think much of my dad because I "turned out gay." :headache:

It's ok to laugh, no apologies necessary. I have a personal relationship with God. My father's current wife just doesn't like Corey as much as my last partner. Of course it was my last partner that pulled my own gun on me, so I have never quite understood what part of the woman was a complete whack job that she can't quite grasp.

I will take Corey over the former psycho anyday!

My girlfriends younger sister was constantly called names at school because her sister is gay. We had to do very little because she decided that the next one that said anything she would stand up to. And stand up to him (yes a guy) she did!
Now I do not advocate violence, but after she stuffed him into a locker nobody ever called her a name again.:confused3

She didn’t care that someone called her names, she really cared that they were making fun of her sister.
