Instant Pot recipe and owners' thread

Cooking hard boiled eggs in the IP is amazing! I put a cup of water in the pot, then a steamer basket on the trivet and then put the eggs on that, Set for 5 minutes on manual, 5 minutes natural release (then quick release to open the lid) then an ice bath for 5 minutes. It's known as the 5-5-5 method. Some do a 6-6-6 method as well. Cooked perfect every time and peeling is a breeze! I usually make a batch once a week, peel them and keep them in the fridge for a quick snack.

There's another method but I haven't tried it yet. Might the next time around.

OMG mine arrived today. I had been waiting for this sale. I need a new slow cooker and have been wanting to try pressure cooking. It arrived today and I am scared of it! LOL!! I can't wait to try some recipe's!

Just a heads up about the slow cooker feature. People have posted in the IP groups that low is more like a keep warm setting and high is equal to a low setting. I haven't experienced it myself, since I haven't used it as a slow cooker.

Yeah, I definitely got the sense that if you just want to do SLOW cooking, you might as well stick to a slow cooker. The idea is that pressure cooking does the same thing--just much much faster.

Now I want one.

It looks like the sale prices in my top post are over for now, but it may be worth shopping around. They're also not the only brand that makes them.

Alternately, if you make an account on Slickdeals, you can set up alerts that will email you when something goes on sale.

I love my instant pot. We've had it for
over a year and use it multiple times per week and sometimes multiple times in a day. I ordered a second one during the Black Friday sale.

Thanks. I will look for another sale to pop up!

This would be great for those nights where there is a perfect storm of; I didn't use the crock pot, there's nothing ready, and I'm over scheduled. Glad I saw this thread!

Thanks for posting that! :) Great price!

I'm going to send it to my husband. I think he will remind me I have a pressure cooker that I haven't used yet. :) But this one looks like it's more multi-functional.

I have a nice stovetop pressure cooker, but I've only had a few successes with it. I think I bought one that was too big, and I have trouble getting it up to pressure/to seal properly about 50% of the time, so it's way too much babysitting. I'm hoping the IP eliminates those problems. (Sheesh, I still don't have mine, for some reason even though I ordered Monday am and have Amazon Prime, they can't get it to me till tomorrow. I know it's Cyber Monday week but other stuff I've ordered later is showing up sooner, heh.)

The one I have is big and bulky too and it's kind of daunting. I don't think it's a "dinner" thing. I think it's more for canning or something.

I am looking forward to getting this. Not to be used as a slow cooker, I already have 2 of those.
Used to have a pressure cooker many, many years ago and was afraid to use it.
Can't wait to try this one

Mom ordered one for me for Christmas so I'll get it then. She didn't know I wanted the yogurt option and forgot she had gotten me a manual pressure cooker years ago so had ordered the 6in1. I had been eyeing them so think she'll still use the first. Will be going back to trying out the manual as I got a new cookbook for it.

Mine came from Amazon yesterday but I can't touch it until Christmas! I have been researching this for a bit and couldn't resist the price!

After reading the title, I thought this thread was about something else.:rotfl2:

I've had one for awhile and have a few favorite recipes (all vegan). I love being able to do beans without soaking (that's awesome!). I have a Pinterest board that I keep building on. :)

I don't have the Instant Pot but I have the PPXL version, the one on the infomercial and love it. All pressure cooker recipes can be made in the various brands. I love it for potato salad. I refuse to make hard boiled eggs any other way now. One of my favorite easy recipes is to brown my hamburger or sausage, add pasta, jar of spaghetti sauce and a jar of water. I cook it 1/2 time that is listed on the pasta package. Then I quick release. You would think that it would be watered down with that jar of water but not in the least. After that recipe I was hooked. Haven't tried meat in mine. I hear people complaining about dry meat and I don't want to gamble $$.
