(Inspired by the Tanning Salon thread) Power to the Palefaces!

I love Olivia deHavilland. What a great example, too -- she is about to turn 90!

Whoever said she doesn't wear shorts, please keep working on embracing your HEALTHY whiteness. It's hard to not to buy-in to the myth that a tan is healthy, but keep at it. I don't give the whiteness of my legs a second thought, but I sure wish they were thinner! :rotfl2:

I spent many summer sundays growing up at the beach. My dad and sister would tan so nice, thanks to the dark irish and indian that seems to pass me by. They both had beautiful olive skin, me, I was as white as a ghost.

Fortunately, when I was 19, I met my ex's mom. Skin as pale as mine. She routinely got mistaken for being years younger than she was, so I took that as a good thing. That taught me that there was a plus to this pale skin thing.

My kids have only been to the beach twice in their lives before 4pm, lol.

I definitely think sun damage causes many women to appear older than they really are.

I noticed something at my 20th H.S. reunion. The girls who spent their summers at the swim club or down the shore and had the great tans when school started in September, looked a heck of a lot older than the ones who didn't! :sunny:

Hey Dan, I remember using baby oil and iodine! All I needed was a frying pan!

When I lived in Japan as a high school students I got so many compliments on my white skin! When I got a bit of a sunburn one day they all felt like I'd ruined myself.

I try to hold on to that standard of beauty!

The last time I actually had a "good" tan, I was in mexico. I rarely tan, I'm not quite glow in the dark, but close to it.
If I'm in the sun too much my skin blisters. Not burn and then blister, it heads straight for blisters. No thank you.

The best thing is people tend to be surprised that I'm not younger. :)
