(inspired by the name threads) What's the oddest spelling of a name you've seen?

In my son's first grade class the student list was sent to me as room mom to organize the first school party. There was a boy of a foreign origin (not sure from where) in the class and I had heard Mikey talk about him and his name was pronounced "She hey". I was quite shocked when I saw the spelling however. I'm not sure it will print here, but it was spelled sh*thed.

I've seen Lindsay (girl's name) spelled Lyndsy.

My kids' names are Nicole and Jared, and I've always been amazed at how many spelling variations exist for their names.

I know what you mean. My daughter is Nicole also and people have written Nichole. I don't know where the h comes from.

I have a sister names Jeanna ( Gina)
A sister named Brandee
and then there is me
Mishell ( Michelle)

Oh my gosh, that poor kid! I think I would have my name (or at least the spelling) changed.

I have seen Jamie spelled Jamye

I forgot - my neice's name is spelled Jaimee (Jamie).

I've seen

Jarod
Jerad
Gerod
Gerad

Remy's middle name is spelled Kaelynn and Holland's is Elisabeth (I hate writing a cursive Z so I used an S instead). My cousin's baby is named Madassin for Madison. I pointed out it is spelled Mad-as-sin when you break it up.
My name is actually Angelene pronounced Ann- hel-een on my birth certificate. I just tell people to call me Angela though since I hate having to correct how people say it.

Coliebird - you're right. Nicole receives presents from FAMILY members with the tag addressed as "Nichole" and I have to think, "Hey, she's almost 17 and you STILL don't know how to spell her name?!?!" (while still very much appreciating the gift :D )

Stinkerbelle, for all of the "Jared" variatons you've given, I see the same ones with 2 "r"'s. So even more different spellings. My son has red hair and plays baseball, so we call him either "J-Red" or "J-Rod".

My friend at work spells her daughters name this way. She also has another daughter Lauryn (Lauren)

My sister spells all of her kids names with J's

Jianna (Gianna)
Jiovanni (Giovanni)
Joseph - no changes here!

My parents named we three daughters:

Teresa (pronounced Tur-ess-sa)
Tricia
Treena

Now, say that 5 times fast!;)

My name is Marisa, but I get called Marcia or Melissa all the time. Does anyone see a L in my name.

My 2 dd names are Cassandra (Cassie) pronounced Cass long e
& Callie pronounced Cal long e.

Both my daughters get called Kasey and Kelly.

One odd spelling a h.s. girl did to her name, she was Kathryn when she was baptized, then she was Katie, now she is Kay Tee.

I have a friend named Daune (Dawn), she gets called Duane alot. My oldest daughter's name is Anabelle and there are several variations on that, most people seem to spell it with 2 n's. My mom is Marcia (Marsha), but most everyone tries to pronounce it Mar-cee-a. That drives her crazy!

Not only are the spellings becoming more difficult to decipher, but it's almost impossible to tell sometimes if the name belongs to a girl or a boy. I work at a preschool and we finally had to put a spot on our form to tell us if it is a boy or girl. We have two Brady's (one boy, one girl), a Skyler (boy), a Foster (girl), an Austyn (girl), two Bailey's (one boy, one girl), two Parker's (one boy, one girl) . . . . it goes on and on.

My husband tells me that I spelled DD's name wrong because I spelled it Robyn instead of Robin.

a boy named Cassadhe (Cassidy)
Elyn(Ellen)
Liana(LeeAnna)
Nichol (Nicole)
Kaelee (Kaylee) my niece who has my middle name (lee) and my sisters middle name (kae) as her first name.

I know a Dwan (also Dawn)

My DD has a friend named Lundon - I think most people associate it with the city - seems it would be easier to just spell it that way.
In fact, DD always got mixed up at first and would ask "is my friends' name London or Paris?"

I knew someone whose DD's name was Mary Elizabeth. They called her Emmee. That's how she wrote her name, too! Her mom was a writer for Disney, BTW.
