Inspired by the Jenn thread, do you like your name?

Hi Kristin. I'm a Kristin, too...even spell it the same way. Yes, I like my name. It's very common name in my "generation"....I graduated with 5 others also named Kristin/Kristen/Christin/...etc. ;)

I've never liked my name, I've always wanted to change it. Most of my life I've gone by just Kris but I'm not a fan of that either. lol

I hate my name - Elizabeth Catherine. Well, I like the Catherine part, so I've considered legally switching them, but I just don't feel like having to change all of my other stuff (credit cards, SS, DL, etc). If I were so inclined, though, I'd really make the change worth it - since I'll probably never have kids, I'd give myself the name that I picked for a daughter. Venice Desdemona (or Venice Morticia - I like them both).

I hate my name (Jennifer). My Mother wanted to compromise and name me Jenna or Hillary. I would much rather be called Jenna.

Stephanie - never really cared for it.

Mine is Angie. I don't really have much of an opinion about it. It is just my name. It isn't extremely common nor is it rare or exotic. I don't know a lot of other Angies so nobody seems to be confusing me with anyone else. I am not of Italian descent, which is the only misconception associated with it.

When I was young, I hated my name. Now, I guess I'm used to it and actually kind of like it. In fact, compared with my sisters' names, I like it the best.

I'm Colleen. As a child I always wanted to change it, but I have grown fond of it over the years. I don't know anyone else with my name.

I almost ended up as Megan, but a 13 pound baby with think curly red hair was born a day before me in the hospital and they named her Megan. My mom decided on Colleen because she didn't want to think of the 13 pound baby every time she called my name.

I like my name Kristy. Whenever someone asks me my name and writes it down, they always assume that it starts with a C. I immediately tell them it's with a K and a Y.

My mother spelled it with a K and a Y because I have a sister Kelly and she wanted our names to match.

Yes, I like it. I would never name my daughter Eden (because it's just not my preferred "style" of name), but I've always liked being named it.

My name was too common. The stickers with names on them were always sold out of my name. There were four of us in my 6th grade classroom. :faint:

Any time I'm out in public in a large crowd, I'll hear my name being called. I don't even look. Once in a while, it will have been someone I know and they'll catch up and ask didn't I hear them? Yeah, I heard. I just assumed it was for someone else. :)

I'd love to have a unique name, or at least one that wasn't mega-popular for people around my age.

As for like or dislike...it's my name. I don't really have an opinion, it just is.

I hate my name, but to change it at this late date would scare me. I have become a bit forgetful as of the last few years and I'm afraid that I would forget my "new" name. That thought, of course, leads me down the road to thoughts of how, not knowing my own name, I would probably be locked up someplace. While I would enjoy the rest, as something of a picky eater, I would probably hate the food. Oh good heavens, let me get off the train of thought before I forget how I got started on it to begin with. Let's just say, I think I should stick with my name, even though I don't like it.

Darla
(named after a Little Rascal)

Nope! I have a first name that I have never, neve used (obviously my parents didn't call me by my first name) and only appears on my birth certificate. I use my middle name, Victoria. An old name that you don't hear much any more. I don't think it's horrible or great - it's nice though to usually be the only one in a crowd.

I love my name, it suits me. I've met lots of other people online with my name but never any IRL.

Jennifer here.
Goodness it was annoying to have 3 or 4 other Jennifers in every class growing up.
Mom just had to pick the most popular name at that time (1975) :sad2:

Even though she swears she picked it because she wanted to call me Jenny - Camelot is her favorite movie/musical and they call Guinevere (spelling?) "jenny"...

I suppose I should just be happy I got named jennifer and that she named our next dog Guinevere :lmao:

I like the name Guinevere. :)

I have always gone by my middle name Michelle which I like okay, my first name is Barbara which I don't like. My mother felt the pressure to name me after my aunt, but she didn't really care for the name either so from birth I was Michelle (she didn't think Michelle Barbara flowed as well). She told me she really wanted to name me Michelle Nicole and when I was younger I thought about changing to that when I grew up, but I kept it as is. I really wanted to be named after my grandma's middle name Elizabeth but that was more due to my love of Laura Elizabeth Ingalls (Little House On The Prairie) than anything else.
