Yup, *POLL COMING*. Hey the first poll was a hit. :teeth:

Have you had any of these less frequently seen illnesses?

Multiple choice is OK.

I'm a freak of nature.

I was born with no muscles in my esophagus.

Then, at the lovely age of 25, I was diagnosed with a rare non-cancerous tumor in my jaw that required 2 surgeries and a year of having a rubber hose sewn into my face. I get to be reminded of that every year when I go back for my x-rays to make sure it's not growing back.

Then, I recently miscarried twins.....I had a normal miscarriage (hey, something normal!), then the second one was ectopic. Not just ANY ectopic...oh, no....my tube kicked the embryo out causing pain like I've never felt before (and that's saying a LOT - see above) and then I miscarried that one.

I'm going to donate my body to science when I die. :goodvibes

Bump. Wow, I can't believe so many people have had some of these lesser know contagious diseases.

I had mono a few years ago when I was 28. Ugh, it was the worst. And I had caught Hepatits A at the same time. Not my fave 4 months of my life.

I had mono when I was in 5th grade. It was bloody awful. Knocked me on my butt for months.

I actually had Scarlet Fever twice, at ages 3 and 4, paving the way for mulitple bouts with strep throat over the years. :guilty: i got it so often that I became immune to Penicillan for quite a while. Fortunately, the last round was at age 25 (a "few years ago! ;) ). I think I finally outgrew my susceptibility to it. Now I very rarely get sick and when I do, I can usually beat it with rest, water and upping my vitamins!! :thumbsup2

I had mono in the seventh grade. My children passed roseola around a few years ago but I have never had it.

I had mono when I was 31 - then I got pnumonia - felt like I could die! I blame mono on all my audo-immune problems today.

Incredibly, I've never had any of these illnesses. I see patients who have them all the time, but, I never have. Interestingly, I have never had a strept throat that I know of. I've been tested, but, never have had. There are days when it seems like every other kid in my office has it, but, I never got it.
Quite possibly, if I did immune titers, I might find that I've had subclinical infections, like I did with mumps. (Not for scarlet fever or impetigo, of course).
