What's with all these babies disrupting our Disney vacation planning!!

Last year we planned a May 2003 trip for DH's family. Then we found out that his brother's wife was expecting their third baby. Btw, they just had it this weekend - healthly girl #3.

So, we planned the trip in May just for us (driving down to visit them in NC then onto WDW) and moved up a January 2004 trip to the week after Thanksgiving for THE FAMILY trip (that's when everyone agreed). Snagged an OKW GV too.

Well, what do you know? DH's sister is now expecting her second child and her due date is in late October! So, we are now considering moving the trip BACK to January 2004 so that she and family can go too.

When I checked last week, they still had GV's available for the dates I wanted. BUT, I'm not changing anything until we know for certain if the new dates will work for everyone. If not or if the 1/04 GV's are gone, then we're keeping the Nov/Dec 2003 ressies, and DH's sister can come next time.

Can't anyone plan their families more considerately around my Disney trip dates!!! JK! Actually, we don't really mind because it's great news, but it certainly plays havoc on my careful 11th month planning!!

With my current luck, after I change the family trip to January 2004, I'll probably be the next one to find out that we've been unexpectly "blessed." Lol. But until DH and I can get a good nights sleep with the 2 little ones we have now, WE ARE NOT LOOKING TO BE BLESSED ANYMORE!

Anyone else have the same problems?

Tell me about it! We were looking forward to a few to no strollers mega-family trip summer 2004. And wouldn't you know it, my brother and his wife up and got pregnant! ;)

Come to think of it... my other brother cancelled two previous attempts at the mega-family due to impending birth and recent birth.

Think I'll just have to be the aunt who takes all the nieces/nephews to WDW a few at a time instead of trying to get the schedules to work. Let's see, two at a time (unless Mom goes, then only one) times twice a year divided by total number of nieces/nephews... this could take a while!:p

Not at all.

My cousin-in-law was very considerate of my Disney Family Vacation Plans. I wanted to plan a trip in 2000 and when some other family members wanted to postpone it to May of 2001, I was informed right there that it was possible that cousin and his wife were hoping to have #3 cooking in the oven by then.

So I was able to stick with my original plan in September of 2000. We had soooo much fun at the end of the September 2000 trip, I told everyone I wanted to plan another Disney family trip in 2005, so my cousin and his wife very politely got to work and in December of 2001 their third and final child was born on December 4th. They told me they tried to hold out until December 5th for me (Walt's 100th birthday:p) but since she gives birth in about 45 minutes it wasn't possible. But they asked me if I would be his Godmother anyway! They love the fact that their kids will be 8, 6 and 4 (almost) when we return in September 2005, and my niece will be 9, almost 10 at that time. I've checked with my sister and she says she's done too. See a little planning and getting the whole family involved really goes a long way!:p

Annie,

LOL!!!

How considerate of them! Maybe we should have your relatives talk to our relatives!

Better yet, they can be guest speakers at DVC seminars for proper etiquette for guest of DVC members!

Can you just imagine? You invite your sister and she says, "Why can't I invite my neighbor's cousin's daughter? She's never been to WDW before - how can you tell her no? There's still plenty of room even if there'll be more than 8 in a 2-bedroom. Btw, she's bringing a freind too!"

Hmmm, DVC seminars on etiquette for guests, a good idea? I know I would send some business to them!

Personally I am a bit ticked at the baby inside me, since it has spoiled our plans for one more trip using our APs ( so What if it would have been our 6th trip in a year)...... AND this darn baby bumps us up to a family of 5 thus always having to get a 2 bedroom villa..... no more saving points here and there by slumming in a studio or 1 bedroom for quick trips!

Note to self: It is easier to take nieces and nephew to WDW once every five years. Having kids of my own will only interfere with MY Disney time!

Thanks for the info Laurabearz! :);) :p

For a couple years. The rules say you can have four adults and one infant (I believe defined to be under 3) in a Pack 'n' Play! Of course then there will be the people who just say violate the rules, but I'm not saying that here. :-)

Doesn't your family know that if you're doing it right you get pregnant AT Disney, not before you go!:bounce: And the rest of us just have fun trying:p

I just sent some relatives to OKW because of a baby. Grandma was trying to time things just right, planning on taking her daughter's family next year when the boys would be 3 and 5. When her daughter announced she was due in July with #3, they put the trip together for this year, rather than wait for the new baby to hit 3!

I was joking... we get two bedrooms now.... we feel cramped in a one bedroom, always having to fold up the bed and such. :teeth:

That is the beuty of DVC. Two lovely bedrooms onsite. It is the main reason we bought!

Add us to the list of families with surprise babies. DIL and DS are having #3 one month before our 11/03 trip. They said they just want a relaxing pool side trip this time and still want to come. Wish us luck.

LOL! I LOVE this thread. Only because DH and I had planned to Cruise on points with the extended family this fall... but with our little princess due to arrive in May we cancelled the cruise plans and just booked BWV for January. (I couldnlt justify taking a week of vacation in October after being off on maternity leave all summer)

also--we have tried and tried the extended family thing at WDW but it seems with my sisters having all these babies, one of them always comes up with the excuse that they want to wait until the youngest is "old enough" for Disney. (of course our little princess will be making her first trip at about 7 months old--so I could never see what the problem was... LOL!)

We made plans to take the kids DD7, DS6, and DD4 with us(finally:D) thi summer mainly for SAB and booked BCV for June last fall. Now DW is 23 weeks pregnant, due July 11.

Our original intent was to stay at SAB most of the time anyway and maybe do one park that week. We just got home today from a Vegas trip and she's telling me "I don't know about our June trip, this one took a lot out of me...":(

I keep telling her we'll just stay cool at the pool and I'll chase the kids down. But let me know more than 30 days out if you think its still a bad idea. Its less than a 4 hr drive for us too.

Please please.....:D

In a DVC family, the third child bears a stigma that will haunt them for life!;)
I think the only solution (which you say you're doing) is to stay in 2BR villas *before* the third child is born; then s/he won't develop a guilt complex!

We were at Disneyland for a long weekend three days after I found out I was pregnant last March -- then at WDW for two weeks in September when I was 30-32 weeks -- then at WDW again for a week in February when our son was 10-11 weeks old -- and are going back for 10 days at WDW and a 7-day Western Caribbean for his first birthday in December!

Being at WDW a month ago was our son's best week of his entire 15-week life! He loved all the sights and sounds, plus he loved the warm (compared to Seattle) weather and being carried in the Baby Bjorn and strolled around all day. But, the whole week we were there, we didn't see anyone with a younger baby and some people gave us funny looks. He never cried once in a restaurant (and we eat all table service meals) or on an attraction; though sometimes he was fussy in lines (but who isn't?).
