I just finished reading about the brownie troops activities on the other thread and I'm really curious about what kind of activities yours or your dd's daisy troop does? I am a co-leader for my dd's troop and we didn't get started until the very end of October, so a lot of our meetings and activities have focussed on the holidays, adopt a teen, and crafts for our nursing home. But I am so curious as to what kinds of trips or field trips other daisy troops take. I'd like to plan some for the upcoming months and I'm looking for ideas!

Thanks for any replies!:goodvibes

My Daisy troop got going the end of October. We have been working with the girls on the basics. They have learned the promiss and have earned 2 petals so far.

I have a dental hygienist coming in at our next meeting. February mtgs my juniors troop is coming to lead 2 meeting and they will earn 2 more petals.
March I am planning a trip to the police/dept and fire station. May we are going camping with our service unit. Filling in the rest of the petals at the others meeting. I do want to do 1 or 2 more local trips but will wait and see how cookies sales go.

They also have been to service unit events like the Halloween and they have World Thinking Day coming up next month.

I try not to overdue it with the Kindergarten Daisies since it is so new to them. We just try to have a good time and teach them the basics. We meet every 2 weeks for an hour.

Bumping because I'm interested in the responses. I've begun the process of becoming a leader, very disheartened with my dd's troop leader. I've told her many times I'd love to help, just put me to work. The girls haven't worked on any petals or badges, they did nothing for any of the holidays, they go to the leaders house twice a month. They color for 15 minutes, she reads out of the book for about 15 minutes, then they have a snack and go home. My dd hates it and that's not the scouting experience I want her to have. Are there any forums or message boards dedicated to scouting leaders?

There are a lot of limitations on what Daisies can do and where they can travel, so be aware. Our Daisy troop activities were much like b&s mom described, but as our girls got older, we started doing a lot more "scout-like" activities.

A suggestion is to have a brownie or junior troop come to a meeting or two to teach the daisies some tried and true girl scout songs or skits. That will make your unit-wide activities a lot more fun for them. If other girls are not available, there are CDs available, and even songs on itunes that you can download.

We also did a fire station/ police station tour and the girls really enjoyed it.

Have you learned the promise? Earned any petals? Are you planning any ceremonies?
