Inspired by MosMom - Anyone here ever EAT dog?

Beauty said:
Nope and I'm eating at McDonalds when I go get my daughter!

Oh, that's right. Thankfully, she'll be too little to have developed a taste for dog. :)

Wow. I appreciate your honesty. I really thought the woman was kidding at first, but then I realized she was totally serious. Apparently, it's the thing to do in Asian countries!

It is illegal, but it does happen. Mostly this happens in the winter time...and generally dark coloured dogs are chosen...the purpose it to keep one warm during winter...at least this is what I've been taught. It is not as common now as it once was. My particular incident occurred over 20 years ago!

My DH spent a summer in the Phillippines and lost a ton of weight. I bet he ate dog and didn't know it!

He did see his uncle eat Balook- you don't want to know what that is!

You actually ate Crush? :earseek: And he's so hot. For a turtle. ;)

Who is Crush? I really don't know, but I am gonna guess he is from Nemo?

My father used to be in the Navy and he said when he was in the Phillippines, he unknowingly ate monkey.

EEEEEEWWWWWWW!

My dog is sitting in my lap as I type this, I cannot even imagine.. :earseek:

Well, I've already heard one person say they ate it - and that was while losing 7 tubes of blood out of my body - if I didn't faint then, I guess I can take it once more. Did you? :earseek:

It is the 7 tubes of blood that has me shocked instead of people eating dogs. Eating dog is very gross but I want to know how on earth you handled them taking 7 tubes. :earseek: I was about to pass out when I read that just thinking about my doctor doing such a thing.

If I have (which is possible) I was unaware. But, yes, my understanding is that black dogs are the most popular. Regarding Micorcell's post, we call it baloot and I have heard people rave about it, but that and dog eating is just not my thing :crazy2:. Eating goats are common also in the Filipino culture here. I have a goat I raised from a week old and she is about 6 years old now....someone offered my $ for her in the past, and yes, she would have been a family dinner....it was a quick no.

I had the misfortune once of seeing a dog being killed and cooked when I was switching channels. I was so shocked all I could do was stare at the TV. :faint: It wasn't pleasant (brutal, actually) and I have never been able to forget those images. Wish I never saw it. :sad2:

Ahhhh the things I inspire. ;)

My father lived in Thailand during the Vietnam war. You can eat far worse than dog there.

This reminds me of what a co-worker told me a couple of years ago. She had previously been in the military and was stationed in the Philippines. One day her and a friend went into what they believed to be a pet store. Her friend was a dog lover and found one that she really wanted. She bought the dog and was told to wait a little bit while they got the dog ready for her. When they brought it back out they had killed and cooked the dog for her. Both women were shocked by this and I can imagine so.

True story.

Yesterday I got blood drawn. The phlebotemist was from the Phillipines and she liked my hat. It had a dog on it.

She told me in the Phillipines, they eat dog, but it's been recently made illegal. She said if you have a dog, and it's a fat one, you must keep it inside, or the blackmarket dogmeat thieves will steal it! :earseek:

Then - she told me dog meat tastes like chicken! :earseek: :earseek: :earseek:

I thought I might puke. :crazy2:

OK that's it! I love you dearly, but now I have to get you a stiff drink after this post! :drinking: and one for me to! :drinking:

That is so awful! :earseek:
