imsorry started a thread about nicknames for SO's. It got me thinking about the nicknames we call our kids.

I call my DS5 "Snuggle-buggle" (He's a great snuggler). I try not to call him this in public, though, because I know any day now he'll tell me he's "too old for that".

I call my DD3 "Chummers" (I have absolutely no idea why :confused3 ), or "Baby Girl" (she's my baby, and she's a girl :teeth: ).

Anyone else want to share their cute, silly or downright unexplainable nicknames for their kid? Give explanations...if you have them.

In thinking about it....I call my kids alot of names. My oldest son is has the gentlest manner and heart of anyone I have ever known so it was easy to call him all kinds of affectionate names! :teeth: But, when I was yelling out "GO SWEETIE!" at his 7th grade basketball games, DH suggested that maybe it was time to call him just by his name and not nicknames!

My youngest son was called "Peanut" by the nurse that was swaddling him when he was born so that name stuck! Now, I call him "Monkey" cause he is always bouncing around the house getting into 'trouble' with everyone...he has too, too much energy!

I was in the room when my grandson was born so "Peanut" came out again for him. He'll become "Monkey" before too much longer, I think! :teeth:

I always called my dd "Grace" which is a lovely name, it just doesn't happen to be hers, lol. My mom used to call me grace when I was younger because I was clumsy and although my dd was never clumsy I just sort of started calling her that anyway. Actually I like the name quite a bit and if her middle name wasn't a family name I would have named her Ashli Grace.

I have lots. I dont know why. I even have some nicknames for their close friends. Oldest daughter-Wheaties, Queen, Miss Attitude, Polly,(that is not her name)Younger daughter-bunny, bunny blue eyes, bunny blue, Princess son-boo bear, boo, baby bear. These are the ones I use the most

Dd's name is Caitlin but I usually only call her that when I'm mad (and I add her middle name, just so she'll know I'm mad!) I usually call her Cait, Caitie, or Caitie-Cat. Sometimes kiddo or baby, as well. I guess I call her honey a lot, too, because I was talking to her on the phone the other day and I was yelling at the dog, "Sunny, hush UP." There was this dead silence and then this little voice says, "What did I say wrong? Can I talk now?" She thought I'd said HONEY, hush up. :teeth:

I tend to call my 30 yo nephew "Jeffy" if I'm distracted (he just gives me the look), my 28 yo niece is "Jillyanna" (her name is Jill) and her dd's name is Juliet but we call her "Ju Ju" or "Jewel."

My oldest is "Big 'un".I know it is strange. When he was born at 10.8 lbs and only 20 inches long people came from all over the hospital to see him and it stuck.
DD8 is called "wormy".8 yrs old and 45lbs.
DD6 is usually called "princess" or "miss drama"Pretty self explanatory.
DD1 is "****ear","Ray"(her name is Rachel)or my boys are now calling her "turbo" because she is never still.
On a bad day it is just #1,#2,#3,and #4.

My DD, we call Bean or Beanie (Rhymed with the first part of her name, Rhiannon, so called her Reenie Beanie when she was a baby). I'll say to her in singsong, "Beanie, Beanie coco pop!" and she'll reply, "Mommy, Mommy lollipop!" I'm not allowed to do any of that in public though. :rotfl2:

My DS has had a few nicknames. Bud, Buddy, Bubble (his sister gave him that one). We're not "encouraged" to call him a nickname now.

Interestingly enough, DS had a nickname for me up until he was around four years old. He called me Dee or Deeya. No idea why, as my name doesn't even come close to sounding like that, nor does Mom or Mommy. It was sweet.

I have no idea why, but my DS6 calls my DS2 "my little plum" :)

He'll actually call across the park "come here, plum!"

Now our whole family calls him that although we get some curious looks from strangers

Well, my son Bailey gets called Bailers & Bailey-Boy by other members of the family.

My DH calles him Billy (that really gets DS in a tizzy, "that is NOT my name!") or sometimes DH calls him Sally.

When I put him to bed at night, I call him Sugar Boogers.

When my son was born we called him "Mr. Baby" then when he was a little older we called him "Bubba" now he is 20 and we call him by his real name! When my daughter was little we called her Messy Sue now we call her Vanilla Bean (I don't know where that one came from!)

Because the twins were small when they were born (7 weeks early) I call them Little Bits (DGD) & Little Bud (DGS)

DS13 is Doug-Bug, and even Baby Boy.
DD11 is Betsy-Boo and Baby Girl.

DD9- is Goo Yes, Goo....started by my uncle use to call her gabba-goo, and we dropped the gabba, and kept the goo. Very rarely do I call her by her real name, unless she's in trouble.

DD8 is Dooz, Gabba-Goo and Dani-Dooz.......you get the idea...

I just sent for a new vanity plate for my K5, went from mudnuri to goonduz.....

Brandy

ds is called "bumpy" or "mr. bumps"-there used to be a claymation show called "bump in the night", the main character made realy disgusting burping sounds, and since my son burped alot as a baby...

dd is called "mouse"-when she was first born her cry sounded like a mouse squeeking.

Ever since dd was born, she has been pumpkinhead. Nicknames derived from her name are Mo and MoMo.

My daughter is Maeghan, we call her may flowers. She doesn't like it when other people call her anything but Maeghan.

Holly

(Bradley) Yahoo--after Yahoo Serious

(Garrett) Taz or Bubba--Taz, because he was an absolute destructive tornado when he was younger and Bubba, because he used to have talking Bubba that would crack him up

(Brittany) Britty Brat---just an evolution of her name

(Destiny) Desi-Do---Ditto

(Selena) Selena-Bena----Ditto

(Olivia) Livvie---Ditto

When DS was about 3 he told DH and I he wanted to be Jake. So we started calling him Jake. DH and I still call him Jake but no one does. Since he's 19 I think it stuck.

I call my daughter Baby Girl as well. I also call her Cole or Colie (her name is Nicole). My husband calls her chicken or chicken little. When she was a baby, she had this little fluff of hair that stood up. She looked like that duck from Suzy's Zoo. Hence Coliebird. Somehow duck became chicken.
