Inspired by being a thread highjacker- the OT thread!

Ok, I have had a way crazy day. Left the house this morning at 8am and just got back in about 15mins ago. I hate when my whole saturday is sucked up outside the house. UGH! But I did get a lot done and was able to go to church so I can sleep in a bit tomorrow.

Which brings me to something that I couldn't stop thinking about all during service. Its gonna sound realy silly, but honestly, it drove me half mad trying to figure it out. Thank goodness my pastor uses overheads and outlines or I would have been lost.

So, you want to know what had me so distracted that I almost excused myself from service tonight????...........

"Whats the difference between mashed potatoes and smashed potatoes?"

Not an earth shattering question, but something that is making me crazy just thinking about it. They are both smooshed up potatoes right?

I should have come home and napped instead of going to service. Thats what I get for trying to use my time wisely.

I'm no vice president, nor do I play one on TV or the DIS, but I think that it's potato, but when an "s" is added it's potatoes. I'll do the goggle spell check and see what it says. Yep, that's it. I only know that because of the whole potato spelling thing with the vice pres, which got me to start thinking about the word. I'm really not a good speller (did want you all to think I'm a spelling geek ).

Thanks for the clarification Tigger&Belle. I dont feel like such a idiot now. But its still bothering me that I dont know the difference between mashed potatoes and smashed potatoes. I just hope it doesn't distract me to the point of me not getting anyting done today.

I have been busy with my stupid project- which is getting closer to finished every minute I'm not DISing. hehehe.

And, I think there is a difference between mashed potatoes and smashed potatoes (from what I've seen, anyway). Mashed are the regular kind- generally plain and smooth and buttery.

Smashed usually have a bit more texture (often because the potato skins were left on) and usually have extra flavors added- garlic smashed potatoes, cheese and bacon smashed potatoes. It isn't essential to have smooth smashed potatoes, whereas mashed potatoes shouldn't really be all lumpy.

That's my answer, and I'm sticking to it.
