Received my cortisone shots in both knees on Thursday around 5 pm. The shots went fine, thankfully:worship:.....BUT I am having a really hard sleeping, basically about 2 hours :sad2: and also my cheeks and nose are red. On top of that broke out in a sweat like no other earlier in the day. The knees still thankfully feel a bit better, but one of them is feeling a bit odd. Don't know really how to explain, it's not pain at all, just different.

The doctor said it takes a full 3 days for the cortisone to kick in so here's hoping by Monday it will be feeling better!

So wish though I could sleep :cloud9:

I have had the shots and know many, many people who have and have never heard of any getting insomnia.

Facial flushing is a normal occurrence.

I know when one takes oral prednisone, this can cause insomnia and hyperactivity. Given that some of the shot entered your blood stream, this is not surprising.

I had a cortisone shot in the foot once and had no side effects but it was a small amount. My foot also had a weird feeling that wasn't pain but just felt weird.

Yeah, it's a steroid so insomnia is understandable. It will probably go away in a few days as the steroid begins to leave your system. I remember the one I had took a few days to kick in with good relief. Same few days reaped some not so great side effects though so keep an eye on yourself. I had some heavy, unexpected bleeding and a friend of mine had an unknown ulcer bleed out on him. Luckily, I knew what to look for and got to a doctor much earlier than he did.
