Insert Catchy Title Here - An August PTR

Forgive me Mickey, for I have sinned.

I have a confession. We’re staying off property.

I know. I know.

But I have a valid reason. I am a jobless college student. With a baby. Who is young. And a mortgage. Get the picture? My MIL has timeshare, so we’re using that. Thankfully, it’s just at the edge of the WDW property. Looking at a map, it looks like it’s just below Animal Kingdom.

So we’re staying at the Sheraton Vistana Resort. My MIL hasn’t invited my parents, though she said to DH that it would be ok if they came. It’s making my parents crazy that they’ve not been invited by my MIL. But Mom is a stickler for etiquette, and my DH’s family….isn’t. I told Mom they love having lots of family around, and they’d never officially invite, because it’s always an open invitation that someone comes. In fact, when they are coming down here, we don’t invite, they just say they’re coming. I don’t mind.

Whoa, Beka, way to get off-topic. Lay off the coffee. Sheesh.

Ok, back to where we’re staying:
It’s owned by Starwood, so I’m hoping the beds will be good! Unfortunately, the property doesn’t have any 3br units, so I want the biggest 2br they have, so that we’ll have enough room.

CLICK HERE to visit their website.

Just found out we should be in this unit: CLICK HERE Looks pretty nice! And since there's a separate sitting room, it's almost like a 3br. We can bring a blow-up mattress just incase the pull out stinks. I think they might also offer cribs, but we also have a pack n play (though he refuses to sleep in it!).

Looking at the pictures, some of the rooms look really nice, and some look like 1980s Florida. You know what I mean: peachy-pink, sea foam green, light blue… bleached wood… Hello Miami Vice! Where are my Jellies? I need a scrunchie! STAT!

It looks like most of the rooms come with:
• Living area with sofa bed
• Entertainment center in the living area with color TV, DVD player, stereo and CD player
• Dining area with seating for four
• Well-equipped kitchenette includes range/oven, microwave/hood combination, refrigerator with icemaker, dishwasher, coffee maker, toaster, blender and dinnerware
• Washer and dryer
• Private patio or balcony
• In-room safe

Looks like they also have a Pizza Hut Express, KFC Express and A&W All American Foods® Express on property, along with some bars, a deli that serves Starbucks (not so important so long as our coffeemaker works).

Hm. That’s about all I can say about where we’re staying. I’m holding out for a Holiday Inn in Kissimmee to come up, since it looks like it has a golf course on property, & has 3br. I’ve emailed my MIL to see how I can help her see what property is open. I mean, if we have to pay OOP extra for 3br, I’d be willing to do it.

So anyway, we're at the Sheraton for now. Unless something else comes available.

Oh my, I just looked at her account, and can’t see that anything has been reserved. I gotta learn the system before I freak out. Not that I have time to freak out, I have a pharmacology test tomorrow!

Yipe! (Anyone know how to memorize endocrine system drugs in a hurry?)

Oh, and just because I love TRs & PTRs with pics, I'll add this for your viewing pleasure:
File0640.jpg

Another old pic from the 80s. I don't remember the parade at all.

Hi Beka, I'm joining in! We'll be at WDW just a few days after you. I'm hoping for great weather for all us August goers! :goodvibes

We'll forgive you for staying off-site...just once though, so don't let it happen again! Ha, totally kidding. We stay off-site from time to time and really enjoy it. I've heard good things about the Vistana Resort, so I'm sure you'll have a blast there. And besides, you're going to Disney World...who cares where you stay -- right?

PS...love the vintage pictures! It makes me want to go hunt some of our old pics down at my Mom's house.

We can totally forgive you for staying off property. But as WDWRocks said...just this once!! Sounds like you guys will have a great time no matter what!

My dad is a doctor, so I know all about the joys of fun and interesting cases. Hope you get to see how he's doing today!!

subbing! :goodvibes Your family is adorable! I don't think anyone blames you for staying off property. This year will be my first trip to actually stay on property... I enjoyed using time share condos in the past. It always worked out well.. Can't wait to hear more! :cutie:

Subbing popcorn::

I have heard many nice things about Vistana. My cousin has stayed there and three or more people that I work with have as well. They all loved it. And you are close to the outlet mall too.

Can't wait to hear more about your trip!

Please do hunt down those pics, it would be awesome to see them! (10 points if you're in a NKOTB tee in any of the pics! )

What kind of doctor is he? I think I'll just stick to nursing! I have a lot of respect for doctors though, that's a lot of work they have to do to be a doc!

I've never stayed on property! :scared1: My plan is to stay at the Swan or Dolphin (Swolphin?) after I finish getting my RN. I'd like to go in October of next year, when the F&WF is going on.

Ooooh, an outlet mall!! Nice! Hope they have some good shoe stores there! Isn't the Disney outlet there? I'll have to find out its exact location!

'K guys, I have a pharmacology test today at 1:30 EST, so pray, cross your fingers, swing chickens or whatever you do! :worship:
I need a good grade!

Good luck on your test!!! I'm off to swing some chickens for you now. :lmao:

Btw, I don't think I have any WDW photos of me in NKOTB attire. BUT...I do have some pics of when we went to to a NKOTB concert back in 88! Now I have to find both sets of pictures!!!

Just found ya and subbied!

Good luck on your test today; major pixie dust your way!

Your son is adorable! I love him! Can I borrow him for a couple hours? We aren't even talking kids until I get to law school (and finish), so I like to borrow my friend's babies to fulfill my baby cravings! :goodvibes

I love the forgive me for I have sinned line; I definitely understand that you need the space! We debated it for a while too until we got a PIN that made on-site affordable for us. (We needed two rooms.)

Don't know if there is a Disney outlet in the outlet mall across the street...I can't remember, I just know that there is one really super close to Vistana. :goodvibes

I *really* hope you find those, they've got to be hilarious! I did just fine on the test, got a B, all I was looking to do was pass! It's hard stuff!

Welcome! :welcome: You can come get Conner any time! Too bad we're not in Wichita Falls anymore! LOL! But hey, we're closer to the Mouse now!

Don't know if there is a Disney outlet in the outlet mall across the street...I can't remember, I just know that there is one really super close to Vistana. :goodvibes

"Close" is close enough for me! We gotta do something on arrival day anyway, or it'll be something fun to do on our day "off". (Which, by the way, I can't stand the thought of! I have had enough days "off" from Disney!)

In case you don't know about it, you all must visit www.travelwithrick.com Each week, he posts a video, about 15-20 minutes long that highlights an attraction at WDW (or in a few cases, DL). After the show, Rick invited the viewers to post a comment, for a chance to win a Passporter.

Guess who won?

ME! :cool1:  :thumbsup2  :cool1:

I'm so super excited about this! I never win anything!

Also, DH went to the grocery to stock up on some supplies for the UK/USC game this week (don't even go there!) And came home with this:

She now looms over my computer, making sure there is always something pertaining to Disney going on. This is also my attempt at being perky 1st thing in the morning, with a few cups o' joe.:surfweb:

I love my hubby!:cutie:

It’s Christmas 2007, there’s a large box under the tree… What could it be?
Christmas-07-023.jpg

It’s one of these: Brother Sewing Machine (click on it, it's insane)
Mom said she wanted a sewing machine with a surger on it, and that’s what she got!

Holy cow, the things I wanna do with that machine!

Well, I stumbled across the Disbotique thread, and it’s all over with. Conner *will* have specified outfits for each day of the trip, all hand made by his Nana.

We’re still in the process of picking out the fabric, but so far we have these ideas:
THIS will be made into a Hawai’ian shirt. I think this might be for the AK day. He’ll wear khaki shorts with it.

This pattern (the shorts)
M2033.jpg

will be made out of a plaid seersucker, a blue & white stripe seersucker, a gingham, and a solid. He’ll probably wear a little polo shirt under it, or a t-shirt, depends on how that looks, and some Converse or some equally cool shoe. I can’t stand the old-timey ones in the pic. Not that they’re bad, but I really don’t want Conner in blackmail outfits the whole time he’s at Disney. I like these shoes:
Vans
Another pair of Vans
Or just some plain ‘ol All-stars
It's *really* hard to keep shoes on Conner, so he might wind up with Robeez. Just depends on how he's doing at that point. (He's gonna change so much in the next few months. :sad1: Gets me choked up just thinking about it.)

On each of the jumpers, we’ll either embroider or appliqué a Disney character to match for that particular day. Maybe we can find one for Figment! I’m having a hard time with one for Epcot, so we’ll see.

The first fabric we bought for the jumper is this:
Plaid Seersucker, click here!
Not sure which character to put on it. Suggestions?

‘K, that’s it for now. I have a test on Monday, and a simulator lab that I need to get prepared for on Tuesday, but all I’d really like to do is read about Disney and take a nap.

Cute pattern; you'll have to post pics of the final product! I can't sew to save my life, but I love seeing what other people can do.

Being closer to the mouse is always a great thing. And, love your Minnie! Cute!

That's so exciting you won a Passporter!!! I really want one.:goodvibes

I'm so impressed that you can sew like that. I am absolutely clueless when it comes to anything resembling arts and crafts. It's scary really.:rotfl2:

The Minnie balloon your DH got you is so sweet.

Cute pattern! Connor will look so handsome!

Thanks! :goodvibes I'm hope so! I want him to look good for his frist meeting with the mouse!

I can't sew either. I just get on my lil machine and screw stuff up, but it's fun! Mom made my wedding dress, so surely she can help me knock out a few jumpers.

Oh, please do not be mistaken! I can't sew! Well, not properly. I've only made costumes for my dogs. Mom will have to help me with Conner's stuff. I'm to a-skeert to cut the fabric by myself! She'll bring the fabric & patterns down with her when they visit next & we'll start cutting then, and figure out what characters will go on what fabric. I think Nemo would be really cute on some blue gingham (but I have to find just the right gingham) or Mickey on red.

I just had to share this pic of Conner:

Looks like he's trying out for Top Model (they do some wacky photo shoots on that show) or La Nouba :lmao:
