Insert Catchy Title Here - An August PTR

I just had to share this pic of Conner:

Looks like he's trying out for Top Model (they do some wacky photo shoots on that show) or La Nouba :lmao:

Love it! Too Cute!!! He has gorgeous eyes!

I love the idea of having a special outfit for each day. I can't wait to see how they turn out! I am so impressed, the thought of making an outfit from pieces of fabric blows my mind. I can barely sew a button back on

Awwww oh my gosh Conner is adorable!

I could totally see that as a pose on America's Next Top Model.:rotfl: I can just see Tyra saying... "Conner. Congratulations. You are still in the running to become America's Next Top Model.":rotfl2:

In just 10 days, I’ll be on the road.

I have no idea where we’re going.

Kyle has planned a surprise trip for us for my spring break.

I know a few things:
we’re not going to Florida or Mexico
there’s no cable TV there
we’re not staying at a “chain” type place

Hmmm…

Care to take a stab?

K, back to the PTR. I’m going insane not knowing when the parks will be open, and I can’t wait for my Passporter to arrive! I went and got a book today, something like “The Imagineers guide to the Magic Kingdom”. Maybe that’ll tide me over. As if I don’t have enough to read with my nursing books, right? ;)

Let’s discuss where I’d like to eat! I’ve been a lurker on the Food Porn thread here for a while, so here goes:
Boma breakfast buffet
Jiko for dinner (probably on the same day as Boma)
Artist Point (if for nothing else, to try the venison spring rolls. I can get buffalo locally.)
Beaches ‘n Cream (I gotta try these burgers everyone is raving about. Are they better than Fuddruckers? Five Guys?)
California Grill (will probably be my ‘date’ dinner with Kyle)
Victoria & Albert’s (not this trip, cuz wowza, it’s crazy expensive, especially when I’m not working)
Bluezoo sounds good, however, I live like 5 miles from the beach, if that, and I have a hard time eating seafood that costs that when I can get really good seafood here.
I was thinking Tutto for my birthday, since I have such great memories of the previous restaurant there, but after looking at the menu, I can’t imagine a plate of spaghetti that’s really worth $24. I mean, did Mickey make it himself?
I think that WPE, Earl of Sandwich, & Ragland Road sound pretty good.
There are some CS places I’d like to try (Morocco pavilion, Columbia Harbor) but it won’t devastate me if I don’t make it there.

Suggestions? I’ll take ‘em!

Sorry I’m not so lively tonight, I have a nasty headache, and have been nursing it for 2 days now. Blech.

Hi Beka,

Hmmm, wonder where you're going on your surprise trip?! Sounds like fun and you'll have to post a little TR about it!

Interesting food choices. We did Artist Point for our anniversary one year and loved it. I'm one of the few anti-Cali Grille people but the last time we were there it was beyond awful. :headache: I'm with you on Beaches and Cream....gotta try and get there! Bluezoo is actually really good. We didn't have seafood when we were there for our anniversary two years ago. It's actually one of my favorite places to eat.

I too am anxiously waiting for the schedule to come out. I hate that it takes so long now..frustrating. :headache:

I hope that your headache goes away. People here are fighting sinus issues with the constant drastic weather changes lately.

'K that's 2 votes for AP, you & Lurkyloo! I'll re-visit Bluezoo's menu. I might just wind up wanting to go there for our "date night" cuz I really want us to stay at the Swolphin when we go after my graduation (& subsequent starting of my job, since it'll only be then that we'll have any $$!)

Once the schedules come out, then I'll feel like I can really get to plan, but right now I feel like I'm sitting here spinning my wheels

Ok, so my post yesterday was booooring. I'm on a *very* limited budget this go, so I'm not looking to eat at a Disney restaurant for each meal. I just wanna hit some of the hilights.

We have stayed at the Dolphin several times and love it there. While we can't get all of the on property perks, I love the resort. We stayed there for our honeymoon as well. I loved Bluezoo because while there were a lot of people there, it was quiet. I can't recall if I posted pictures of the food in my Sept 2007 TR, but I recall having the pork chop, which I don't normally eat, and it was really good. Joe liked his meal too. The staff there was awesome. Joe had sent me a gold tray with a white pillow and a tiera. It also had a coursage of roses on it for our anniversary. He had it sent there and when they brought the desert menu, there was someone behind our server that presented me with the gift. OMG, it was incredible. I really, really love the atmosphere there.

If it were not for free dining, we would be back at the Dolphin. I get a great rate because I am a Sheraton member and get discount codes a lot. They also have an entertainment book rate and a AAA rate which normally is close to half off of the rack rate. For example, in Sept 2007 we stayed there for less than the cost of a moderate. We had a great water view too. Granted we had a couple of issues with the room (see my TR for that) but I'd go there again in a heart beat.:cloud9:

Yummy.........Artist Pointe.........you will love it there if that is what you decide on.:woohoo:

How 'bout you just come down early for your trip (Aug 14) & be our tour guide?

'K, mt PTR is lacking in pics. I'll share what I do in my 'spare' time, when I'm not mothering, wife-ing, being a student, or on the Dis:
Made this for a baby shower, based on the colors of the baby's nursery:

I call this "Christmas Sky"
21109005.jpg

No name for this one yet. It has over 14 layers of paint in it:

I made this one for a friend who has an icy-blue color scheme for her tree, but it could also be for a baby boy:

So yeah, I love Christmas like I love Disney. Bet you can't guess what store I plan on spending $$ in!

Ooh, I'm excited to see where DH is taking you for spring break! Has he given you anymore hints?? Maybe it's a B&B in some remote, romantic location.

I can't chime in on the restaurants, since I've never been to any of them. Sad, isn't it? From the food porn I've seen, Tutto looks really tasty, as does Le Cellier. That food porn thread is evil!!! I'm always sitting at my computer drooling over all the yummy pictures.

Btw, those ornaments are really cool!! I really love that pink one. Do you collect any ornaments from Disney? I started doing that a few years ago. Then I stopped b/c I got sucked into the Christmas village pieces instead. I can't go into the Christmas store w/o spending at least $100.

Those are really beautiful! Thank you for sharing!

I bet the Christmas store is just calling your name!

You can bet it is!! :santa:

Thanks about the ornaments! I plan on selling them. I just have to create an inventory to show what's available. They take a looong time to make, so I start them like 6 at a time.

No more hints from DH. He didn't even mean to give me as much as he did. My guess is we're headed to the mountains of NC. I was thinking it was gonna be Savannah at first.

The only ornaments that are Disney are some felt ones that my grandmother made (they are my most cherished Christmas possession), and 2 Christopher Radko Pooh ornaments. I want more CR Disney ornaments, and I live Jim Shore figurines, especially the Christmas ones. Oh yeah, I got a Pooh & Eeyore set when I was in hs. Forgot about those. I might have to make a Disney tree "for Conner";) . I also have some animated Pooh & Tigger figurines that I found on eBay, & would like to find more.

LOVE the ornaments!!! :woohoo: I wish I could do that!

I think we are all waiting anxiously to find out where you are going! :yay:

Dang ya'll. I think I figured out where we're going. At first, I thought we'd be heading to Charleston or Savannah. Then, after the hints he gave me, I thought we were headed up to Asheville, & would be in a secluded place there. Then this morning, I get up, get my coffee, am doing this :surfweb: , when I see a message one of Kyle's friends sent on Facebook that said "Have fun eating a Paula Deen's restaurant."

Ok, so now I think it's definitely Savannah. However, DH is the type who would set stuff up like that just to throw me off his trail.

Ok, I'm no where closer than I was last night.

But if it is Savannah, then I'll have fun eating her super-fattening food! I mean, seriously, who deep-fries butter?

OMG, I have ALWAYS wanted to go to Savannah and LOVE Paula Deen! If that is where you are going I am SO DANG JEALOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
:dance3: :dance3:

Ooh, I really hope you're going to Savannah!! Have you been before? It is such a beautiful place. I've only been once, but I fell in love immediately. The whole place is just so gorgeous -- especially all the Spanish Moss hanging from the trees. Make sure to take tons of pictures, wherever you go!

I :lovestruc your ornaments! How beautiful! I was raised on Christmas and Disney! :cutie: I know my mom and I will be spending plenty at the Disney Christmas store! I can't wait!

I am excited for you about your trip! I have always wanted to go to Savannah! I just adore Paula Deen! How fun to eat at her place! I hear it really is amazing! :cloud9: It's wonderful that hubby wants to surprise you! How exciting! :woohoo:

I've never been there, just Charleston SC, & loved it. My MIL says Charleston is a lot like Savannah, but I think she preferred Savannah.

He's such an awesome hubby! I can't wait to hit the Christmas stores at DTD & wherever else they are!

Ahhh I've missed so many updates!!!

Your mini trip sounds so exciting. OMGosh I would die to eat at Paula Deen's restaurant, I love her show! Other than New Orleans I've never really been anywhere in the south so just about every option sounds exciting to me. But deep fried butter?! Really?!

Take LOTS of food pictures if Savannah (or anywhere, actually:rotfl: ) is where you end up!!!

uhm..so idk why I didn't notice this on your siggy before, but HI! I am subbing, and super excited for your trip!! Any park days planned out yet? and your baby is sooo cute..but I told you that in my PTR!
