Insert Catchy Title Here - An August PTR

Yay, only 4 weeks!! I'm sorry everything's been so busy for you!! Hopfully it'll slow down a bit. When my family and I stay at OKW we usually plan the meals we're going to cook ahead of time, it saves some time for us. So I think that's a good idea for you guys. It's probably a good idea to just kinda go with the flow with your little one, it'll probably be better on him and you!!

Time and $$ saved, always a good thing!

Hooray!! Dancing with you!

:woohoo: :dance3: :dogdance: :cool1:

Also, congrats on the two great grades! :thumbsup2

Kathy

Thanks! Can't wait till the trip!

Hey! I didn't realize you had posted an update. I've been way too into Facebook lately, too. I think we both may need a twelve-step program or something. :rolleyes1 I can't help it, Farm Town is quite amusing....especially when you're at work and you should be doing something more productive.

I can't believe you leave in three weeks! :woohoo:

The trip is almost here! As of this post, I have 11 days! It feels like weeks away though.

The summer semester is FINALLY over, I got an A in the easier class, and a C int the hard one, but it was *almost* a B. Oh well. Good thing my GPA doesn't count on my tuition being paid for.

So I have a bunch of stuff to do for the trip.

1) Call Disney Dining & rearrange the Boma & Jiko ressies. My cousins are coming on the day I had ressies for those, & they don't care to hit up the parks. :confused3 Also, I wanna see if Kouzzina (sp?) will be ready to take a reservation. That is the *only* request DH has made for this trip, and I'd like to see if I can swing it.

2) Laundry. Holy Moly Batman, I have a TON of laundry stuff to do. Gotta wash it all first, then put it away or pack it. Conner has a ton of clothes that he's outgrown, so I need to see what he can wear on the trip, and what he can't. T-shirts and shorts are MUCH easier than onesies at this point, and dang it, he doesn't have many.

3) I need to make a grocery list. My MIL & I figured we'd do better to plan to eat lunch at the condo. Mom had a good idea to just buy stuff for a few days' worth, then we can see what we're actually using and what we're not.

4) Finish getting supplies. I have 1 misting fan, but need to get ponchos. I'm headed to Target tonight, so I'll have to review my list first and see what I can swing this trip.

5) Gotta get my flip flops! I decided on those expensive Hawaiian ones (if it has to do with Lilo & Stitch -even remotely- it can't be all bad, right?) instead of Crocs. Maybe I'll get those today too.

6) Disney-fy myself. I have hours of Disney themed TV on the DVR as well as the planning DVD for us to watch. I also need to finish reading the Passporter. I think I'll make a list & print it of rides that Conner can ride & give those to the grandparents so they'll know quickly if he can ride a ride or not.

That's all for now! The countdown is on! :cool1:

Woohoo 11 days left!! Sounds like you have enough to do to keep you busy though!! What do your Hawaiian flip flops look like, they sound neat. Have fun with your shopping and preparing!!

While I love these shoes, I'll probably go with these. The sales lady said they're easier to break in than the leather ones, and they cost almost $40 less, so yeah.

OMG, I'm so stinkin' happy for this semester to be over. I was taking chronic health problems & mental health. Thing is, for the Unit 4 test, we reviewed a ton of material. On one day, they said "We'd never do a barium enema on this pt cuz it could rupture the bowel." Ok fine. So what was on the test? "How do you do a barium enema?" :headache:

OB/Peds are next. I hear it's nasty too. Great.

Oh I like both of them but the black ones look so comfortable and $40 less is definitely a good thing! Oh I know what you mean! I have one more semester to go and I can't wait!! Oh doesn't that always happen, you think it won't be on the test because you can't possibly do it or it doesn't really relate but of course there it is that same question!! Oh yeah I've had that happen before!! Really stinks!! I loved OB and Peds!! Course that's two of the areas I'm interested in so that might have helped!! Hey I think they were easier than just med surg stuff but you'll get through it no matter what!!

I gotta come on here & brag on my husband. If that kind of thing makes you sick, just move on to the next paragraph. The end of this semester marks 1 year that I have survived the RN program. I've been tense & rediculous this year, so DH decided I needed a "me" day. He took me to lunch at my favorite place (Harrelson's, if you are ever in Murrell's Inlet, SC) then dropped me off at a local spa for a massage, mani/pedi, & facial. I get my hair done today! Oh, and he also got me flowers. (See below)

Ok, so before all that yesterday, I decided to make the grandparents a cheat-sheet for Conner, so they can know quickly what rides he can ride (which is most) and how long shows are, so they can make a call if he'll be able to sit through one at that point. Here they are:
080409.jpg

They will be cut into strips, so they'll be easier to store. It's front & back. I printed 2 copies. I also added Conner's (rough) schedule for any given day, though that's always flexible, his favorite things to eat (though he will eat anything, paper included), and our Contact information, in case they didn't have it programmed in their phones.

I picked up 2 ponchos at Target, and found some packs of Wet Wipes that are antibacterial. I'm not a freak about germs, but when Conner is eating directly off a table or high chair, yeah, it needs to be clean, and wiping it down with a rag that's been wiping other tables all day doesn't count as "clean". I also picked up a travel sized bottle of Purel. Again, I'm not a nut about germs, but sometimes you just can't get to the bathroom to wash up quickly, and it's just as effective.

Well, that's it for now, I gotta go do a half ton of laundry & chew out my insurance company for (once agian) processing a claim incorrectly.

Those flowers are beautiful! What a nice surprise. :goodvibes

awe, your hubs so SO sweet! Tell him to call john and explain how the romance thing works.k,thx!

Thanks guys! Jenn, Kyle thinks he needs to sell his services. Meaning, he sets up all that stuff for the husbands/boyfriends/whatever & then gets a small portion of the total cost. I think it's genius:idea:.

I think it is a good idea! Craiglist baby!

Oh my god, that's so sweet!! What a nice thing for him to do!! And very much deserved on your part for making it through a year of nursing school!! Hey I think that's a great idea for you're hubby to do!!

Well, I got my sandals. I went with the ones I really wanted, the OluKai (the leather ones, see above posts). Also got a new bathing suit (since DH said my old one looks like something a "granny would wear". Holy cow, it's hard to find a decent suit, even at the beach!

I started packing today too. I mean, I have no plans to wear my dresses this week, so why not go ahead & put them up? If the clothes are clean, and I'm not gonna wear them, might as well go in the suitcase instead of the closet.

I've also started laying out stuff, like battery chargers, etc. that I want to bring. I have to find my "kitchen sink" bag (yes, that's what it's called), which I have traveled with since '97, but can't seem to locate. DH said "You think we got rid of it?" Um, I'm a pack rat, and no, it takes a supernatural force to make me part with a bag, so unless HE got rid of it, it must be in the house.

I'm kind of irked. When we knew for certain the dates of our trip, I messaged DH's family that lives in FL & told them when we're coming. I get a message last night asking again when we are coming, and was told that they can't come see us; if we want to visit, we have to meet them half-way. :headache: Um, we just drove EIGHT HOURS. Plus, it's taking time away from the parks. I hate to sound cheap, but dang it, we paid for those tickets! If it was so important for them to visit, they should have said something a while ago! I'm already spending Sunday with my cousins, but they're coming to US, so I'm not upset about missing a park day, since they're working with us.

God love my MIL, I have sent her a tentative schedule already, and I'll be damned if she's not asking me again what the plan is. WHAT PART OF THE EMAIL DID YOU NOT UNDERSTAND? :headache: Bless her heart.

Where's the wine?

Thought I'd post the general schedule that I sent my mom & MIL:

Friday:

6am: Leave so we can stop for Conner enough times.
after 2pm, probably closer to 3 or later: Arrive, get groceries (depending on time), check in, settle a bit, etc.
??: Head to Downtown Disney for dinner at either Wolfgang Puck Express or Earl of Sandwich. Kyle wants to go to Ghirdeli for dessert. Go to World of Disney for Conner's birthday shopping from Mary.

Saturday:
8:30am: head to Magic Kingdom for opening ceremony & make a B-line for the barber shop to get 1st haircut & have about 8million pictures taken
rest of the day: I want to ride Pirates with Dad. I know Dad wants to take Conner on It's a Small World. He'd like to take him on the Haunted Mansion if we think he can handle it. (I personally don't think it'd be bad for him; he's too young to realize it's scary at this point.) You guys can split turns on who takes Conner on what ride, I figure we'll just wing it when we're there.
6:00pm: Kyle & I head to our date dinner at Artist Point (at the Wilderness Lodge)

Sunday:
Tracey, Mike, Sierra come. We have our dinner reservation that night at Jiko at 6:10pm. Remember, there is a dress code!

Monday:
7:30am: Breakfast a Boma
Either Animal Kingdom or EPCOT; or we could go to Sea World that day after breakfast.
According to touringplans.com, AK will be busy that day since they are having their EMH hours for the guests staying on WDW property. I'm not real particular on what we do that day, I just want to have 2 days to spend in EPCOT since it's huge, and it's my favorite park.

Tuesday:
EPCOT day; should be busy due to EMH hours.
b-day dinner at 6:20pm

Wednesday:
Either another EPCOT day, our AK day (if we go to Sea World on Monday) or another MK day.
6:10pm: Kyle & I have date #2.

Thursday:
Sea World (if not done earlier in the week).

Friday:
Someone drags me kicking and screaming from WDW property & back to SC.

Yay! you get to leave in 4 days! that is truly awesome! Your schedule sounds awesome and you are a truly nice person for vsiiting family when n a wdw vacation lol! let's just say idk that I would do the same:rolleyes1

First off...can't believe you leave THIS WEEK!!!

Love the flowers -- how thoughtful!! Congrats on finishing up another semester. Woot!!

I don't blame you for being irked. I would be too! Although personally, I really don't like seeing family when I go on vacation. I just want to be away from everyone I know and just enjoy our time. Is that wrong?

Are you going to Universal, or did I just imagine that??

NP! I can't believe it's 4 days! I feel like I have so much to do, but no idea what it is that needs to be done! I think I'll head to the pool & read my Passporter.

Nope, no Universal, just Sea World.

Morning all. It's 7:27am and I'm in freak-out mode. My MIL & FIL are coming today, & we'll finish our list of things to buy tomorrow, but I wanna do something NOW!!! Too bad I'm flat broke.

I started Conner's stroller tag. I'll post pics of it when I'm finished.

Mom had an idea which spawned an idea for me. Ya know how when you get your hair cut, there are always those little jibbles of hair left in your shirt collar that are so irritating? Well, Mom said that I should bring a change of shirt for Conner for his 1st haircut. I made a 1st birthday shirt, why not a 1st haircut shirt?!

You can kind of see his shirt in these pics:
72509128.jpg

72509136.jpg

(Yes, I came up with that all on my own. I'll take orders now ;) )

So I guess I'll head over to the DISigns board to get some ideas, or beg for some. I'd rather paint than do a transfer. It's cheaper (since all I'd have to buy is the shirt instead of a transfer sheet, ink, etc.), and much faster for me.

I still need to get some stuff laminated. The things I made for the grandparents (see post above), and I made some little 2/5 x 2.5 card with my ADR #s on the back, and the park hours & parade/firework times on the front by day. I thought it'd be something handy to have around, since I rely on the interwebs so much :surfweb: & may not have access.

I still need to get some Bodyglide (or something like that), moleskin, snacks... I wondered if Conner would do better with Pampers instead of Luvs just for the parks. Also have to get some snacks, juice boxes, large Zip-Loc bags, and stamps (holla Jenn).

I still have to get the house clean (and here I sit on DIS). I've vacuumed most rooms, still need to do our room & Conner's. Gotta clean the bathrooms (who wants to do THAT when you get home from the most magical place on earth?), the kitchen will have to be done last, since that will get REAL funky while we're gone. Almost done with laundry, but then again, I'm always "almost done". :laundy:

Still have to line up someone to watch the dogs. One of my GFs from school will, but she'll be gone to Charleston the 1st part of the trip. Luckily, one of DH's assistant managers lives just down the street (& she works at Kinko's so I may get my laminating done at a super cheap rate!) so she could probably do that for us.

Well, I think that's the short list. Anyone want to freak out with me?:scared1:
