Did I dream this or is this really happening? Is anyone coming into DVC with an initial buy in of 100 points? Please give me details if this is the case. I have several friends who may be interested in this offer.
We just bought last week at AKV directly through DVC, 100 points. I dont know when they started offering 100 point contracts, but we bought as soon as we found out. We couldnt justify 160 point contract right now since its only my gf and me and we dont mind staying in studio accommodations. However, the guide told us if we ever want to add on through DVC directly, we will have to buy at least 60 points.
We took a tour last week, and we got the 100 pts at AKV w/ Oct UY. Our guide told us the 100 pts was a summer promo. We also receive $500 off downpayment. But he did tell us the $500 off downpayment would end on June 30. We just have to sign the paper work.

We just bought a 100 points at AKV. Discount currently is $8 off per point. NO DEVELOPERS POINTS with 100, though. (You may hear people say they got them, but don't get your hopes up b/c they shouldn't have. I think there was confusion when this new 100 pt contract came out, but now the sales people all know not to give it unless the 100 points is an add on to an already existing cotract)
We were thrilled with the 100 point offer- less maintenance fees and plenty enough points to fill our needs.
Good luck to you and if you decide to buy- Welcome Home!
Being a couple with no kids that can travel in off-season, we can go to Disney even more than we did before joining.
However, we will probably buy more points in the future, because now...we want to constantly go to Disney, bring people with us, get larger accommodations, etc.
I see a 60 point BLT in my future.
(I wonder if the Disney rule of only letting the AKV - 100 pt. owners buy 60 or more points applies to resale owners.) I'm guessing that it does.
That is cutting it close, and be impossible due to availability.
I would bring this up with your guide. I've read that the guide's can pull some strings, or at least check availability before you purchase, and get you in the system.
ALso, if you have a cash RESSIE at a DVC resort already, it may be tricky to convert the cash ressie into a DVC ressie because they would come from 2 different pools of rooms. (Of course, I would still ask my guide about it.)
We just joined last week!! We purchased 160 points at AKV, $8 a point incentive which I used twds my down payment and 160 developer points which I need to use by next year. Now I just want to wait until they finish the resort at the Grand Californian to buy some more points.
