Inground Pool-how much did you pay if you dont mind sharing

We already have an inground pool that I think is 14x28. It is prettty much all on depth. We have been told to make it a "real" pool we will have to pay as if there is not one there. So, i am wandering how much that will be, i know different prices in different areas. We are paying all of our bills off and look to install in the winter. Thanks

HUH?

I am confused. You say you already have one....but to make it a real pool you have to pay as if there is not one....and then you want to install one this winter.

What am I missing here that would somehow clarify this?

I think she means that it's all one depth but I don't understand why it's not a "real pool"?

Anyway - we have an inground pool. It's 14 X 24. We paid 16,000 for the whole thing, including 3 feet of concrete around the pool and a concrete patio that is 15 X 35.

all said and done ours was in the $50-60k range...but we had to have trees removed, power lines moved, septic tank, etc....since you already have a pool in place, it will probably be much cheaper.

We have an 18x34 mountain lake pool and it was $28K installed (no coping, patio etc). Our pool has poured concrete walls and a vinyl liner.

Perhaps the OP has a one-depth above-ground pool that's been installed below-ground. It's fairly common in the northeast - keeps the water cool in the summer and handles the winter freezes better than traditional in-ground pools. It's also less expensive to install since there's no concrete needed.

The new pool materials costs will be the same, you'd just be saving on excavation labor. That could be offset if you're having them remove the existing pool or dig up for a deeper end. Get the surrounding concrete done at the same time as the pool. Otherwise, you end up with dirt and mud in the pool, which adds to startup maintenance costs. I have a friend with a pre-fabricated drop-in pool, which cost a lot less ($10k total) than the custom-built versions ($25-30k) in her south NJ area.

Ask neighbors who've had pools installed for recommendations and thoughts. Get three estimates from reputable installers. Check references.
