Information on the the Treehouses at SSR

I think they actually open June 1, 2009. Reservations do begin on February 8 for SSR owners and will be accepted from other members two weeks later.

I would like to book at the treehouse villas for a friends and family trip for Thanksgiving of 2009. I am currently debating whether I should book at SSR at the 11 month mark and then switch to the Treehouses on February 8th. . what do you all think?

It's a good idea to have a backup plan in case you can't get THV.

I think if your not a SSR owner it will be hard to get at the 7 month mark. SSR is the biggest resort with the most owners. They will be high demand at least for the next few years by SSR.

I have a reservation for a two-bedroom for several nights in the first two weeks of July...We are SSR owners...Do you think we have a good chance of getting a THV for July if I call 2/8/09?

Well, at 9am on 2/8/09 there should be zero reservations in the treehouses for your dates--or any other dates for that matter. It's just a question of whether you are one of the first 60 to call for your specific arrival date.

I understand...thanks

You can bet that canal/river front is going to be a popular request.

great pic!! How did you get it? Were you on the river?

When you take the water shuttle from downtown to Port Orleans, you would go down that waterway. I was on the SSR to OKW water shuttle. You can see it the way I have it posted. This was taken on the 8th just before we left.

Is there parking near the THV for people that have a car on property? Or will we need to park at the main SSR area?

at the old tree houses you could pull right up to your treehouse. I'm sure it will be the same way with the new villas.

I have seen a few posts saying the 3-bedroom THV will rent for 2-bedroom points for SSR owners, but wha will the point cost be for other DVC members? We own at WLV and would be interested in staying at THV at some point.

Just use the SSR point chart for the 2 bedroom units. They will require the same amount of points regardless of whether or not you own at SSR. The points will not be specific to SSR owners. What WILL be specific is that SSR owners will have the 11 month booking window whereas other DVC'ers will have to wait for the 7 month window!

Ths "problem" that I see is that unless you have enough points to cover both reservations without borrowing, you will have a reservation to cancel...that requires getting a cancellation number, and requries time. Do you expect SSR in general to have all 2 bedrooms already booked by February 5th for Thanksgiving? I think not, you are still in the owners priority period, of course they could be, but I wouldn't waste my time getting an ordinary 2 bedroom, then cancel it and book a treehouse. I would call to get the treehouse right away.

JMO, of course.

I had always gotten the impression that Thanksgiving is a very busy time. . .So, yes, I did assume that most of the two bedrooms at SSR would be booked at the 11 month mark, let alone by February 1. . . .But I appreciate your thoughts! :)

We were just talking about the Treehouse Villas, so this is a timely thread for us. We own at SSR, so I'm marking early Feb. on my calendar to try to book a THV for DS's 12th birthday in late September.
