Information on the the Treehouses at SSR

Ths "problem" that I see is that unless you have enough points to cover both reservations without borrowing, you will have a reservation to cancel...that requires getting a cancellation number, and requries time. Do you expect SSR in general to have all 2 bedrooms already booked by February 5th for Thanksgiving? I think not, you are still in the owners priority period, of course they could be, but I wouldn't waste my time getting an ordinary 2 bedroom, then cancel it and book a treehouse. I would call to get the treehouse right away.

JMO, of course.

I'm a newbie to making reservations, so I need to ask you a followup question. I already have a resevation for a dedicated two bedroom from Aug. 16-21 at SSR (SSR is my home resort), but would like to switch it to Tree House Villas the first day it opens for reservations. So, if I understand you correctly, I can't change my reservation without waiting days, weeks or months for a cancellation number? Would I do better to just cancel my ressie now and take my chances of not having a reservation?

The time required is actually minutes. They pull up the reservation you have, cancel it, and then give you the cancellation number. THEN you could book the treehouse.

Although small, the time factor COULD be an issue if other members call to book that same morning when MS opens.

Basically the time it takes to cancel would be all the time it would take another member to book. KWIM?

I don't know if late August would be an issue, although with the Treehouses being brand new, it could be. This past year, the new CL level at AKV became available and I had no problem getting a CL studio at a little more than 7 months out for July.

Thanksgiving is fairly busy...like Christmas week, so there would more likely be more members trying for those Treehouses that week, so bobbi was concerned that Becca may get bogged down in cancelling while other people snap up the Treehouses.

With the new availability board, you COULD always hang on to that 2 BR you have, then somewhere around the beginning of February, take a peek and see if there are still 2 BR's available for your dates. If there are, then call and cancel your 2 BR the day before reservations open for the treehouses. Then you will be ready on that morning to just book. :)

I didn't even know about the availability board! Wow! What a great tool! Thanks so much for this information.

The availability board is listed 2 below the mousecellaneous one. Also I would think in switching to the treehouse would be like switching to another resort at the 7 month mark. When they moved mine between resorts, they put the new room on hold, then did the cancel and rebook. I guess there is a chance that the CM will forget to put the hold first, but I would think that is pretty slim.
