Believe it or not, we'ver never hit a water park before...Can anyone speak to these questions:

1. How difficult is it to get a lounge chair? A locker? What is the locker fee and do you need exact change? Should we plan to be there at the opening of the day?

2. Is it helpful to have your own beach towel there to mark a chair? Are these taken chairs respected as such? Is it safe to leave a bag unattended while in the water? (Locking up wallet, cell phone, ipod in the locker, of course!)

3. Should we bring water shoes, or do they get in the way (stick) on the slides?

4. Will they accept resort ID and use CS/snack credits from our DP?

What other words of advice for a newbie?

TIA!

Sorry...can't answer any of your questions. We've never been either, but may attempt this round. Just subscribing...thanks for reading my mind and asking these questions! :lmao:

I have been to Typhoon Lagoon only twice, and Blizzard Beach once. From my experience, here are the answers to your questions:
1. If you arrive within the first 2 hrs there are chairs available. There is a sign near the entrance where "chair vacancies" are posted. Lockers are readily available. Last weekend it cost $5 and a refundable deposit of another $5. THe deposit is returned when you turn in the locker key. You can open the locker as much as you need to throughout the day, without paying extra. You do not need exact change b/c you purchase the rental from the souvenir shop. The earlier you get there the better.
2. I do not use a chair b/c I ride the rides and leave, so I cannot answer this one for you.
3. I have always used water shoes. THe ground is very hot, and I have never had a problem with them getting stuck on the slides.
4. They do except dining plan for quick service and snacks.
I hope this helps! It also helps to get there early b/c sometimes the water parks are closed in the early afternoon, due to thunderstorms.

We have done the WP's many times and have always just used their towels that we "rent" for the day. We have never had a problem finding chairs but we do always get there at opening. We typically set up a "homebase". We often split up during the day so the chairs are our meeting spot as well as a place to take a break and have a snack. We don't leave anything of value but have never had our stuff disturbed in any way. You can use the DP there but we also bring in a small cooler with snacks and drinks. We treat it like a beach day. Water shoes/sandals are a must because of the hot pavement but as I recall some rides you do need to take them off and hold them to slide. Enjoy! The WP's are so much fun!

I think I would prefer typhoonlagoon over blizzard beach too. I have found that the pavement gets very hot....

Does anyone know where to get discount tickets for the water parks?

David

I did not know that. We go to a WP every trip but ALWAYS get there at opening.

I always wear water shoes but DH never does. I only do tube rides and have never had to remove them.

This will be our first time buying the WP & more add-on. I figured that for $7 or $8 more than the single admission it was worth it, even if we just go for 2 or 3 hours for the second day. (Our WP days are usually 5 - 6 hours.)

You should have no problem with the chair if you are there early. Any later and you might need to look in the areas of the park that are tucked away. I have seldom seen all the chairs "throughout" the park taken ... it's just that the ones near the water and in the best areas are taken. To some people, this means there are no chairs. We have always arrived upon opening at the park, gotten a locker (which you pay for at a "shack" and get the key) for our valuables (things we cannot afford to lose) and then stake out our chairs. I actually prefer them a bit in the back because then you aren't as crowded. Another advantage of getting there early is that you can get in the major rides/slides before the place gets crowded.

2. Is it helpful to have your own beach towel there to mark a chair? Are these taken chairs respected as such? Is it safe to leave a bag unattended while in the water? (Locking up wallet, cell phone, ipod in the locker, of course!)
We have never had a problem with leaving our stuff. We do bring our own beach towels, but never the really nice Disney towels that we own. Ours are more generic that we bring. I do try to tuck things away so nothing that might be tempting is showing. Anything I cannot afford to lose is put in the locker.

3. Should we bring water shoes, or do they get in the way (stick) on the slides?
I've never worn water shoes; however, you will see enough people with them so you won't feel odd if you do choose to wear them.

4. Will they accept resort ID and use CS/snack credits from our DP?
Yes, it is my understanding that the main food vendors accept the card. Not sure about the little shacks though.

I prefer TL over BB; however, that is a personal preference. I'd recommend that you try to arrive at opening and quickly move along into the park to get your chairs ... then go back and get your locker and lock up the items. At that point, I would start to go on the popular slides, etc ... if the day is hot and it is crowded, lines can build later in the day.

Another tip regarding the "lazy river" and tubes. Do not join a large group of people waiting for tubes. Instead, walk toward the back entrances of the river (example for TL: hardly anybody waiting at the Shark Reef entrance) - "normally" you will find tubes and entrances with very few people waiting. Don't be afraid to get wet and walk in to retrieve a free-floating tube.

Have lots of fun. Remember you can take a cooler in with you. They may check for alcohol and glass, which are not allowed to be brought in.

Have fun!!!

Lockers are $5.00 or $7.00, depending on size, plus a $5.00 refundable key deposit. They are available at several stores; ask at the cash register. They are good for unlimited access during the day.

The number of lounge chairs is about 50% of park capacity.

Since we're talking water parks...can we purchase just a one day ticket to the waterpark? I don't foresee that we would use it more than once, so I don't know if it's worth it to add the water parks and more to our ticket.

If you are only planning to have one water park or Disney Quest day you are much better off purchasing separate tickets.

If you buy the Water Parks Fun and More option to your MYW ticket it will cost $53.25 (including tax) per person, adult or child. It will add one WPF&M entry per day on the base or hopper ticket (but two entries on a one day ticket).

If you purchase one day water park or Disney Quest tickets they cost $47.93 adult and $41.54 child.

This upgrade may be done at any Park (including water parks or TTC) ticket booth or Guest Relations Office. If it is on your room key it can also be done at the Resort Lobby Concierge.

(Note each person must have their own ticket. Even though it adds multiple entries to your ticket, you can only use one ticket for one person.)

Also, if you are planning to do three or more water park visits within a year there is a definite price advantage to purchase Water Park Annual Passes.

We have two unusual policies at the water parks concerning ticketing. Both involve use of a one day water park ticket.

One is we will allow full value of the used WP ticket to upgrade to a WP AP as long as it is within 14 days of use.

The other, which is the only time combining tickets is allowed, is we will merge a used WP one day ticket with a MYW ticket to add the WPF&M option and only charge the difference in price.

OK, everyone is saying to get there early and I can understand that - but what time do the water parks open? That's the big question?

Who can help me? We're planning on going next Friday.

If by next Friday, you mean August 3 both WP's are open 9-8. All the park hours are listed on the WDW website as well as many other sites. Have fun!

There is no two-day ticket to the water parks. There is a one day pass, the discount for Annual Passholders and DVC members is about 10%. And a Water Park Annual Pass costs less than three days.

Okay so I have a question. I have the water parks and more option on my MYW park hopper ticket. We plan on hitting BB and Quest on the same day. Is this allowed or is it just one entry per day?

Do you know the price of the one day pass?

(edit) Oops, I just found it, $45.
