If anyone has information on a past or planned trip to Disneyland through Make a Wish, or other Wish Granting Organization, please let me know.

My 16 year old daughter has a Wish trip to DL scheduled Aug 11-18, 2008. I will post info here as it becomes available. The chapter here in NJ booked the flights. The trip is for my daughter, her friend, and me (MOM). They offered us tickets to Knotts Berry Farm, or Medieval Times. I said maybe to Knotts Berry (but we now have decided not to go there), but I asked about Universal Hollywood. They said they would ask about Universal, that is handled by a different local chapter than DL. They said the NJ chapter only did the flights, the local chapters in CA would arrange the hotel and rental car. :yay:

I am not sure when we will hear more information. I was happy they booked us direct flights from Newark to John Wayne airport. They said a limo or towncar would take us to and from the airport. I will call in July to see if I can get more details.

My daughter is very excited. She needs something like this, she is really wanting to get her drivers permit and a part time job, like her peers. She has not been well enough to do either. :worried:

I am looking forward to more responses to this thread so I can learn more. It is hard not to plan! I guess if we want any PS, I should call for them?

Pat,

I am hoping that they give you a 2-Day Park Hopper Pass for DL and California Adventure (an adjacent Disney Park). Cali Adventure has some of the best rides. We rode their twins at WDW. Universal would be awesome. I hope you get it, but Cali Adventure would be way better.

You can get a free Disney Trip Planning video from the Disney website. It has video clips of the rides and attractions at both WDW and DL/ Cali Adv. The DVD is really well done and also serves as a souvenir to help remember the trip.

My daughter has a trip planned the week before Pat's and we were told the same thing , the PA chapter arranges the flight portion of it but the local california chapter does the rest. I know we are getting a rental car and tickets to go to DLR for two days , one day Knotsberry farm and one day Universal . They said we will know all the details about a week before the trip , all I know for now is that we are staying onsite.

I am hoping we can upgrade the 2 day ticket (if that is what we get) to 3 days (at my expense). I know people say you can do those parks in 2 days (?), but it will be hot and Bridget needs to rest. She wants to try and do parks without a wheelchair. teens. I said, use the chair at least part of the time, like when you are with me, and embarrassed about that anyway.

I think we will skip Knotts Berry, since the sun is such a problem for Bridget, and we live 15 minutes from a Six Flags here in NJ. (we love riding coasters though). We will do Universal, and we want to go into Hollywood one day, and go see the beach (not spend the day at the beach, maybe go to beach at about 5-7pm when sun is weaker). I think that day I will try and get us to that Disney ice cream place, The El Capitan for lunch. (probably the teens won't want to see a movie there, too bad).

We did not ask for on site, so I guess I expect to be offsite, but very close by. We will have a rental car, but I hoped to walk to the Disney parks, since we will have a wheelchair (hard to fold up and get onto a tram without my husband to lift it, I have shoulder issues).

So after our 2 trips, we will have lots of info to put here on DIS about DL Wish trips. It is a nice option for east coast kids who have been to WDW several times, esp. older kids. (DD is 16)

Pat , we decided to do the same thing , to hopefully extend the passes another day at our expense and skip knottsberry farm , we will also do Universal and she wants to do Hollywood as well.
We will have a rental car but she will also have either a scooter or power wheelchair , she is not walking yet and I know that if she walks by then it will not be for long periods of time , and I am sure that she wants her 'independence" instead of anyone pushing her all the time.
