Anyone know of a web site or phone # that you can check on any conventions being held at the disney resorts? So we can plan accordingly. Thanks, MKY

There are always conventions at WDW, especially at S/D - they are convention hotels. We were at the Swan a few weeks ago and they closed the pool areas at 5 for convention dinners.

There is a web site that gives conventions being held at the Orange County Convention Center but no central listing of events being held at the various WDW hotels. You might have some luck if you use a search engine like Google and enter your dates or month the name of the hotel and words convention or conference. Try something like "August 2002 Dolphin Disney". It may bring up the web site of the meeting's host if you want to satisfy your curiousity.

However, Deb & Bill's advice is right on the money. There is always a meeting or convention happening at S&D and the WDW Deluxe hotels. It's big business for them. Just read a report the other day that Orlando is the leader in the number of conferences and conventions, even beating out Chicago and Las Vegas. The size of the events is not as large as other cities but the numbers are high because they host so many at the individual resorts.

On Thursday, April 11th my DH and DS decided to rent water mice at the Contempo. We were staying at the Dolphin and there was a convention there (great for us - pool was empty). While my family rented the boats I explored (nice word for shopping;) ) the Contempo and the GF - both of which were also hosting conventions!!! When we stayed at the YC in 1999 there was a large Clinique convention there! Seems like many of the Disney hotels host conventions... I called the Dolphin before our vacation to ask about convention pool closings and the staff there was very helpful!:D

to find out about conventions during my stay and they said the schedule was "confidential."
